Historia
Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the headmaster of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth.

definitely going on the comfort read pile
Revisado: 10-05-24
like The House In The Cerulean Sea, this quickly became one of my favorites. The narrator is excellent, putting heart and emotion into every page. I love everything I've ever read by TJ Klune, but this series especially. Found family, queer love, cute kids, life lessons, and all around good people. I want to immediately read it again.

Historia
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind. Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones.

I love this series and was so excited to see it available in graphic audio! The voice actors are superb, bringing to life the characters I've imagined the many times I've re-read my physical copies. Excellent storyline. Definitely getting the rest in this series as they come out in this format.

Historia
Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes when she helps a very handsome, very mysterious stranger. There's something not quite right about Jean-Luc, but still, she's never been with a man so charming, so attractive... so wonderful. Now if only a murderous villain wasn't after them, they might get their happily-ever-after.

eh story. awful narration.
Revisado: 03-31-23
I needed something for a road trip to keep me awake while driving and, well, it kept me awake. The story is your typical HEA: no huge surprises, not a lot of tension, not a lot of depth, but works as background noise. However the narrator leaves a lot to be desired. Her usual voice is fine but the myriad accents she affects get worse as the book goes on. I wish she had just used her own voice, instead she butchers the accents to the point that I wondered if the Hispanic (maybe Mexican? the author never bothers to say) babysitter was speaking with an Irish lilt. The male lead's French accent felt more cartoonish than anything. And then there's the Scottish accents. I thought I was going to die laughing.
The story itself is just kinda meh. There's lots of xenophobia expressed by the townsfolk toward the male lead that just... never gets addressed? I think the author was trying to make the little girl cute but she came off as annoying. The ex of the female lead also just sort of disappears into the plot ether. Glad I didn't have high expectations.

Historia
Before time as we know it began, gods and goddesses lived in the city of Asgard. Odin All Father crossed the Rainbow Bridge to walk among men in Midgard. Thor defended Asgard with his mighty hammer. Mischievous Loki was constantly getting into trouble with the other gods, and dragons and giants walked free. This collection of Norse sagas retold by author Padraic Colum gives us a sense of that magical time when the world was filled with powers and wonders we can hardly imagine.

good enough for a train ride
Revisado: 07-12-21
I wanted something I didn't have to pay too much attention to while on a four hour train ride and while this wasn't my favorite rendition of the myths it did the trick. It seemed to skip some details in the mythology but Ulf Bjorklund's voice was very calm & soothing.
