Historia
In Crossing Over, John brings his listeners with him on the extraordinary journey that has been his life since his New York Times best seller One Last Time was published in 1998. In the style of his TV show and personal appearances (poignant, funny, and remarkably candid) John deals head-on with the controversial issues he has confronted on his voyage as a psychic medium. Listeners might be surprised to learn that it hasn't always been smooth sailing.

Never watched the show but wasn't necessary.
Revisado: 04-25-25
I have gone to see John in person twice and will again, if the opportunity presents itself. I have never been "read" myself nor have those who've I've attended his seminars with. However, I have no doubt that what John does is real and meaningful to those that have had experiences. This book was very interesting in so many ways and I now have an even greater appreciation of the courage it takes to help people in this very unique and powerful way. Thank you John, I look forward to listening to your next book. The only reason for the 4 stars in the Performance category is due to the speed at which John talks. I get it but it would be nice if he could slow it down just a little. ;-)

Slower start with a satisfying ending
Revisado: 04-22-25
I really enjoy listening to Mr Hiassen's books over all this was my 4th so far and I certainly plan to continue. In my opinion this book had a slower start than the last (the first in the Skink series) with a lot of moving parts that don't really start to come together until much later in the book. I was also disappointed that Skink had considerably diminished role in this book. He is such a unique character I really hope the next few books will highlight him and all his quirks more. Always happy with the justice filled endings. I also commend Mr Wilson and his stellar job with the narrating. There was a lot of very different characters and I could easily differentiate between them all due to the mastery of George K Wilson.

Worth a listen and appreciate the honesty.
Revisado: 04-09-25
I had a hard time believing the content I was hearing was from someone so young. I fully believe in everything Tyler was saying. I came to this book from listening to John Edwards, whom I've seen in person a couple of times. It was amazing the similarity in the messaging between the two that leads me to feel completely confident in what each is saying. I hope Tyler follows this book up with another later down the road and so appreciate everything he is doing to spread the message. My only reason for the 4 stars on the performance is that while Tyler spoke very clearly, he also spoke very quickly. I did follow this book up with watching a couple of YouTube videos and I can tell that is just how he communicates but a note to those who may need a little more time to absorb the spoken word you may want to slow the playback down a bit.

A twisted tale of murder in the world of big-stakes bass fishing tournaments. Filled with ex-wives, evangelists, and an armed pit-bull, this is a story that could only be concocted by Carl Hiaasen, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, New York Times best-selling author, and czar of Florida noir fiction.

What an amazing cast of Characters!
Revisado: 04-07-25
I found Carl Hiaasen from his appleTV series Bad Monkey. I'm so glad I did and now have so much to catch up on! I'll never figure out how he can have so many and so vastly different circumstances come together. Never boring and George Wilson does an excellent job over all, the only criticism is that it's not always easy to tell the different characters apart due to there not being much of a difference between the Cuban, African American and Caucasian men. No matter what it's a hell of a story and looking forward the next one in the series.

John was 15 when it began. Visions, voices, feelings, an ability to make up stories about the future that, uncannily, came true. Actually, in retrospect, he was probably much younger than that, but it wasn't until he reached his teens that he realized his abilities were extraordinary. John Edward is now a renowned psychic medium whose talents are matched by only a handful of people in the world. One Last Time is his remarkable story.

Revisado: 03-23-25
I have gone to see John Edward in person a couple of times and each time I was amazed by, not only, his abilities but also his integrity and willingness to share this exceptional otherworldly talent with the rest of us. This is a fascinating listen and I'm looking forward to hearing his next book. John does provide, not only comfort, but a complete sense that there is much more to come after our physical presence on this plane as ended. Thank you John, I look forward to seeing you again.

Can't wait for part two!
Revisado: 03-18-25
I never really followed Cher, even when she was with Sonny. I do remember watching the comedy hour when I was little and I've always thought she was an excellent actress and singer. I could never understand how she hooked up with Greg Allman and now I do. She had a really rough upbringing and overcame so much to become who she is today. This was really worth the listen and thought part one ended in a good spot. I will be sure to get Part Two as soon as it's available.

Lewis Black has built a career on giving voice to the anger of Americans. His standup fills theaters across the country and his appearances on The Daily Show draw hoards Online and on TV. But the current political climate is driving Lewis and his long-time comedy partner, Kathleen Madigan, north for an extended tour of Canada. Lewis and Kathleen Escape to Canada is a stand-up album with way more than just jokes. The Grammy-award winning comedian performs rants sent in from the public, and he and Kathleen respond to them from the stage.

Revisado: 03-18-25
I'd never heard of Lewis & Kathleen, frankly I was hoping for more Trump bashing, considering when this was released and the fact that they were in Canada. There wasn't much content and it seemed odd that the majority of it was reading other peoples letters. At least it was quick.

Historia
Back when restaurant menus were still printed on paper, and wearing a mask—or not—was a decision made mostly on Halloween, David Sedaris spent his time doing normal things. As Happy-Go-Lucky opens, he is learning to shoot guns with his sister, visiting muddy flea markets in Serbia, buying gummy worms to feed to ants, and telling his nonagenarian father wheelchair jokes. But then the pandemic hits, and like so many others, he’s stuck in lockdown, unable to tour and read for audiences, the part of his work he loves most.

Exactly as expected and so worth the listen
Revisado: 02-27-25
Another engaging group of stories that just would not be the same if it wasn't for Mr. Sedaris's wonderful narration. The only reason I didn't give the full 5 star overall score is due to some of the entries, in my option, just didn't hit the mark for me. Looking forward to another book featuring stories about David's family including the beleaguered Hugh and the vast array of humanity that David encounters along the way.

Historia
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Darker than expected
Revisado: 02-18-25
While I always appreciate it when the bad guys get what they deserve. It seemed to me that Ms Rowling took a lot longer to get there, for a stand alone story, than it should have. I might think that way now that I am much older than when the first Harry Potter books came out and have seen a lot more death myself. As with the Potter series, I'm not sure that children should be the target audience. However, it was a very rich story full of the wonderful detail that only Ms Rowling can bring to life.

Hoping for another Yancy story soon!
Revisado: 02-03-25
Carl has the best imagination! Just when I thought it couldn't get any crazier.... The characters are all flawed in one way or another but that doesn't mean you don't care about them, root for them to be distroyed, or laugh at how truly stupid and ignorant people can be. This book has it all and looking forward to reading more of Carl's works. I at first didn't think much of Mr. Rubinstein's narration but as the book went on I feel like he did any excellent job, I always knew who was talking by the voices he so masterfully used. This work is more than worth the time and money to enjoy!
