Historia
Ice-T rose to fame in the late 1980s, earning acclaim for his music before going on to enthrall television audiences as Odafin “Fin” Tutuola in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. But it could have gone much differently. In this “poignant and powerful” (Library Journal, starred review) memoir, Ice-T and Spike, his former crime partner—collaborating with New York Times bestselling author Douglas Century—relate the shocking stories of their shared pasts, and how just a handful of decisions led to their incredibly different lives.

I’m glad both authors narrated this book. It made it more real to hear their voices. The story kept me engaged. Glad Spike made it through the system.

Historia
Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells - taken without her knowledge - became one of the most important tools in medicine: The first “immortal” human cells grown in culture, which are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than 60 years. HeLa cells were vital for developing the polio vaccine; uncovered secrets of cancer, viruses, and the atom bomb’s effects.

Both narrators were solid. I think they captured everyone’s voice well enough. I believe the book gave a very comprehensive account of what happened to the family.

Like Dan said at the start of the book, there is nothing new that he invented via content, but his simplification of some concepts were great. Read or listen to the book monthly and focus on your daily income goals. That’s my takeaway.

Historia
Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

I am happy I got the book and am ready to implement what is taught. Even though there is an accompanying pdf, I sis not hear mention in the book when to reference the figures in the pdf.
Also the narrator’s soft voice was not ideal for this book. There was also too much bass used in the production. Less bass and more treble.

I have the soft cover book and was referred to it by a friend. I liked the simple principles and they are easy to apply when you commit to them. I bought the audible version so I can listen to it constantly as a reminder during the work day.
I hope you enjoy it too.

I actually ordered the hard copy of this book but since it couldn’t be fulfilled, I received the audiobook. This is a great read and I have used some of the principles in a deal I did. It really expands your possibilities in getting things done. I plan to keep this book as a reference guide. I hope his other book is in audio as well.

Historia
Some Americans cling desperately to the myth that we are living in a post-racial society, that the election of the first Black president spelled the doom of racism. In fact, racist thought is alive and well in America - more sophisticated and more insidious than ever. And as award-winning historian Ibram X. Kendi argues in Stamped from the Beginning, if we have any hope of grappling with this stark reality, we must first understand how racist ideas were developed, disseminated, and enshrined in American society.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Revisado: 06-11-17
At first, this book was difficult to comprehend. It seemed like every word was a descriptive word or simile or allegory. After listening for a while, I started to see the parallel in our (Black Folks) lives and the Narrator. I'm still piecing together how the different movements (Marxism, Socialism, Black Unity) affected us and the community. I'd like to see an anniversary edition of this book with commentary from Black Thought Leaders on their insights from this book.
