Great book for dog lovers!
Revisado: 06-02-21
What a fun and touching book about, as you’d expect it, a black lab that we follow from the beginning of his life to the very end. Yes, it gets to the end but it’s an untold end with a flashforward in the future so no real dog death to go through.
That’s a recommended read/listen to me. The narrator again took me a little to get used to. I found him a bit flat at first but it fets better as you get into the story.

Fun rom-com story
Revisado: 01-30-20
Funny starting premise makes for a cute and charming story.
I smiled a lot while listening to this audiobook. A lot of times I saw some resemblance between the main character and how she’s trying to live her new life and how I try to act, inspired by my own dog. Try not to take things too seriously and find what makes your tail wag...
Aisling Gray did an excellent job narrating this book. Her voice fits quite well with the characters of Jackie Bouchard.
It’s a recommended read, especially if you are looking for something light, cute and funny

What a wild ride!
Revisado: 01-12-20
Wow, that book started looking like a contemporary romance novel which is definitely not my type, quickly moved into a psychological thriller type book that I had to keep coming back to. Very entertaining listen!
And oh, do NOT read the last few pages first (I did not) or you’ll spoil a great deal of the book.
Real highlight of the audiobok to me was narrator Susan Marlowe’s voice acting work. We’re not talking simply reading the book here but adding real intonation and even sound effects. Really well done!

Historia
Cara Snow is newly divorced, stuck working for a jerky boss at a pet boutique, and dreading her soon-to-be-empty nest with only her beloved corgi for company. Worse still, her ex just got engaged. Doesn’t she deserve some romance, too? Or, at least a date for the Fur Ball. She’s always enjoyed the annual pet rescue gala, but this year her ex will be there with his fiancée. Meanwhile, Cara hasn’t met anyone — other than the irresistible dogs at the boutique’s adoption events. Cara is shocked when her wish to fall for a man as easily as she does for those mutts summons Vincent. His velour track suit, paunchy belly, and tough-guy accent don't exactly fit her childhood image of a fairy godfather. Not exactly on top of his game, he admits to being twenty-five years late.

Fun modern fairy tales
Revisado: 12-18-19
What a sweet little book. It's described as a fairy tale for dog lovers and that's exactly what it is, complete with a fairy godfather, a magic spell to help find love and a happy ending. (cue fireworks!)
It was an easy listen, nothing complicated but it entertained my greatly. There is a specific moment in the book that, if you are a dog lover, you will love very much. I will not spoil what it is because I didn't see it coming but when it happened, I really enjoyed. The 2-3 chapters that it lasted were some of the sweetest moments of interaction between a furparent and her/his furbaby that I have read in all the doggiebooks I've read. Pure joy, really...
There is always an extra layer with an audiobook and that is the performance of the narrator. It can really make or break a book. I found that Aisling Gray did a good job with it, giving just the right tone to each of the characters.
All in all, a recommended listen!

Fun book!
Revisado: 11-29-19
That cover picture should give you a hint not to take this book too seriously. No, the dog is not flying through space, hunting some meatball pizza. Maximillian is simply a stray rottweiler, as stray as can be, with the worst manners possible, a kind of mean streak and as destructive as you could imagine. His space helmet is just how they call the muzzle they have to fit him with...
That book was a fun romp with some neat rapid fire dialogues made even better by the excellent work of narrator Josh Horrowitz. Seriously, what he did on that book was much more voice acting than simple narration. Two thumbs up to him.
I also enjoyed the overal sense of humor throughout the book. Had quite a few laugh out loud moments.
Fair warning, it's not for kids, really more for young adults and older. After all, it's the story of the Summer of a 17 year old man going from childhood to adulthood, if you know what I mean... Oh, and the ending is kinda sad. At least for dog lovers.

Engrossing story
Revisado: 11-20-19
Wow, that story sure had many twists and intrigues and it kept me guessing the whole time. Some part thriller, part high tech novel, with a bit of underground mafia to boot.
I was kinda confused at first with all the Malaysian triad codenames and I felt it was a bit confusing at first but once we got into the meat of the story, I really liked it!
The whole dark web was kept simple enough that it didn't lose me.
I felt the British narrator did an excellent job throughout the whole book. The production actually made it feel like a complete presentation with sound effects added to the voice for context, i.e. someone on the phone would actually be read through a speakerphone. I felt it added to the story.

Disclaim and Disclose is the true story of how my early childhood and deceptive business associate landed my name on the top of a securities criminal indictment stemming from a Panamanian drug cartel investigation. Determined and on the elusive hunt for love, I found myself surrounded by the financial arena's acquisitive players and their fury for cold hard cash. Everything I had worked so hard for, including my reputation, was now desecrated as my name was being negatively scrawled across the top of national news headlines.

Pretty incredible story but also very interesting. Got kinda techincal at times. Made me realize how blessed I am to have such a quiet life, hehe.
The author does the narration on this audiobook and I gotta say it does give the story a very believable feel. One little thing though the sound was kind of muffled overall. That’s not on the narrator but more on the quality of the recording.

Good start to a new series
Revisado: 10-10-19
I kinda knew the characters a little after reading the sample from the kindle version of this book (which I also ended up buying anyway) but hearing them come to life under the voice of Angie Hickman was just delightful. Her tone is just nice to the hear with just enough diffentiation between characters to make it an easy and fun listen.
As for the story, I loved it. I’m an avid doggie story reader but kinda new to cozy mysteries. I know now that I will want to learn more about Fred and Watson and I will want to follow their future adventures. The interaction between Fred and her charming little furry man are simply great and should appeal to any dog lover...

Sneaky, creepy, but wholly entertaining!
Revisado: 10-05-19
Oh my, what a sneaky, creepy little book! Started all cute, I mean who has not played with a magic 8 ball and laughed at its answers, then bent toward rom-com status then it got real creepy. Very interesting take on the whole thing, I enjoyed it as it kept me coming back for more.
Narration was good, nice, distinctive switch between voices of characters. One thing though and I don't know where to put it but the production of the audiobook was a little uneven. For some chapters there was a kind of hissing sound in the background, no matter what device (iPhone 7 or iPad Pro) or or headphones (corded or bluetooth, many different ones), the sound was still there, but as I said, only on some chapters starting with chapter 17 or so. Then around chapter 26, there was one chapter that sounded all cavernous. Odd.
Other than that, it was a very entertaining listen.

Very entertaining story!
Revisado: 09-27-19
What a highly entertaining book. I really enjoyed this novel following one medical student through his medical school years. The medical procedural talk was on point, or at least very believable (I’m not a doctor) and the human interactions were fun, making for many laugh out loud moments throughout the book.
The narration was overall good although it took me a little bit getting used to the tone of the narrator.
I got lost a few times with some scene changes within a chapter. That’s possibly the only tiny negative I might have about this book. Not too sure if it’s on the narrator or the split in the chapters though...
