A Creative Take on Common Theme
Revisado: 11-23-24
From the beginning, this was an engaging experience. This thriller managed to capture and maintain my attention, never ceasing to have me questioning the complex characters within. While some of twists may seem expected, it is only due to the excellent writing and storytelling that allowed you to figure them out. A well-written, well-performed thriller sure to have you clamoring for more.

When Russ Wesley finds an unusual artifact in his grandfather’s collection of rare antiquities, the last thing he expects is for it to draw the attention of a ferocious alien from a distant planet. Equally surprising is the adventurous team of intergalactic exterminators dispatched to deal with the alien threat. They’re a little wild, and a little reckless. Worse yet, they’re so impressed with Russ’s marksmanship that they insist he join their squad . . . whether he wants to or not.

Interesting, Engaging, & Fun Space Story
Revisado: 11-01-24
The voice actors really brought this story to life, only enriching the already well-thought out world and universe. I like dual-POV and over-arching storylines that weave in and out.
I really enjoyed this book and didn’t want to miss a day reading it. The only reason I dropped a star in story is because I personally felt that the midpoint felt like an inciting incident that took a bit longer to reach. However, that is only because the author has such a well-built universe/world of the story that they spent time showing it. While it felt like a longer exposition for me, I still liked the content of it and felt like I knew the world and characters well before they got into the bigger conflicts.
Overall, this is worth your time and energy as you will enjoy the characters and universe they attempt to survive and save.

Historia
Freshly unemployed gamer Arnold O'Connor is short on cash and facing eviction. When an indie game developer advertises looking for participants in a brain study to help revolutionize enemy AI, he's not thinking about the benefits to his hobby, just his bank account. But things get weird once the trials start. Neuroscientists monitor his brain waves as Connor performs a variety of tasks, culminating in venturing into a testing version of the very game they're hoping to develop. The tests mess with his sense of reality, seeing things he can't touch and deafened to some sounds but not others.

Surprised to see this had no reviews at first, I took a chance on it. I’m very glad I did, as it was an entertaining, well-performed, and engaging story overall. It reads like a DnD one-shot through the lens of what I assume is the average demographic of this genre. I think many will find it relateable, comical, engaging, and entertaining. Worth the listen!

The New York Times best-selling author of Magpie Murders and Moriarty brilliantly reinvents the classic crime novel once again with this clever and inventive mystery starring a fictional version of the author himself as the Watson to a modern-day Holmes, investigating a case involving buried secrets, murder, and a trail of bloody clues.

Revisado: 02-29-24
For the final time, I’m writing about how much I enjoyed this author’s work of the story of Carl, Donut, and friends (& enemies). Reading the first 5 in the series on Kindle, I turned to Audible for book 6 after hearing how great the voice acting and experience was and I have to admit that I was not disappointed in the slightest. Even Princess Donut would approve. Thank you to Matt Dinniman for creating such a deeply thought-out and lived-in universe, world, and dungeon beneath. I wouldn’t wish the crawl on anyone, but I’d gladly have you on my team should Borant show up one day. If you haven’t yet read this book, do so now. And do so via audiobook; you won’t regret it!

Historia
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

Historia
Adam Turner works the mid-dawn shift at his local radio station. From 12am to 6am, it’s his job to fill the airtime with old songs, inane chatter, and the occasional talkback caller. It’s a long way from his prime-time slot from over a decade ago, when he was a star in the making. Now there’s no producers, no billboards, no stakes, and not many listeners. His frequent callers are drunk students headed home from a night out, or long-range truck drivers. He is completely alone in the studio from midnight until dawn every night. And then one night at 12:45am, he gets a different kind of call.

A Killer Experience
Revisado: 07-13-23
From the start, I felt like I was truly watching this story unfold. The way the author sets everything up and continues to build anticipation/suspense made me finish it in one sitting. Every chapter, indicated by time-stamps, had my heart rate inching higher as the time ticked on. The author has done a superb job of ensuring that you will do exactly as is stated on the front cover: Don’t Hang Up.

Reality is relative. There is no such thing as universal truth. But lies are always lies. From auctions to assassinations, from cosmos to subconscious mind, the roots feeding into these short stories start fine, but thicken and tangle as they grow deeper. Follow these wayward souls through their darkest moments, each beginning with a bang and each trying desperately to avoid ending with the same.

An excellent collection of stories that flows from one to another very well. There were only small moments that I felt it was difficult to understand/stay connected because of audio/performance, but overall an excellent collection.
