If you are a long time Grisham fan, and if The Firm is one of your favorite Grisham books, do yourself a favor and do not read this book. There are so many plot holes and there is hardly any connection to The Firm. I stuck it out thinking there would be the signature Grisham twist in the end— waiting for the kidnappers to be from Bendini, Lambert and Locke seeking revenge or something like that— NOPE. Utterly disappointed and can’t believe I spent months counting down the day for this book to be released. I think Grisham wrote the first few chapters and AI wrote the rest. Would give the book 0 stars if I could

Great book if you skip several chapters

The book starts strong and ends strong, but there’s wayyy too many descriptive chapters in the middle. I skipped over many of the chapters in the middle and still understood the plot when I picked back up towards the end of the book. It would have been a 5-star rating if the fluff chapters had been cut out.

Incredibly disappointed!

I’m a huge Grisham fan and have given all of his other books that I’ve read 5 star reviews. I would not put this book in the same category of any of his other works that I have read, and I find it difficult to think Grisham wrote any part of this story at all. I am appalled by the way the story delves into such graphic details about domestic violence and rape, only to be met with glorification of the abuser/rapist by the local community and no Justice or relief/resolution of any sort in the end. Having Jake Brigance adamantly oppose a fourteen year old rape victim getting an abortion and instead encouraging her to carry the baby so he and his wife can adopt the baby?!? Would not recommend this book to anyone and would not listen to this book again even if you paid me to do so.

One of my all time favorite audiobooks. I found it to be both entertaining and also enlightening. Answered questions I have pondered for years. Chapters can be listened to individually, you don’t need to necessarily listen in order.
