Historia
Michael is coming undone. Adrift after his wife's departure, he has begun taking himself on long, solitary walks across the English countryside. Becoming ever more reclusive, he’ll do anything to avoid his empty house. Marnie, on the other hand, is stuck. Hiding alone in her London flat, she avoids old friends and any reminders of her rotten, selfish ex-husband. Curled up with a good book, she’s battling the long afternoons of a life that feels like it’s passing her by.

Wonderfully told and hilarious

I can totally picture Sharon Horgan as the female lead in this very well-written and wonderfully narrated story. I didn’t want it to end!

Historia
Lila Kennedy has a lot on her plate. A broken marriage, two wayward daughters, a house that is falling apart, and an elderly stepfather who seems to have quietly moved in. Her career is in freefall and her love life is . . . complicated. So when her real dad—a man she has barely seen since he ran off to Hollywood thirty-five years ago—suddenly appears on her doorstep, it feels like the final straw. But it turns out even the family you thought you could never forgive might have something to teach you: about love, and what it actually means to be family.

Loved everything about this story, literally everything!! Not a rom-com, full of emotion and realism - even with the whimsy. Love love love.

I normally love Kate Forster’s books, but I gave up on this one toward the end. Just can’t take the main character Tressa anymore.

Historia
Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body - how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular. As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted."

Historia
Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape. But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

Protagonist not likable at all
Revisado: 06-23-24
I couldn’t finish, as Iris was so horrible. I get that she’s hurt, but she’s SUCH a b***h it became unbearable. The main male character kept repeating himself as well, and as he’s her boss, I kept thinking SEXUAL HARASSMENT. Jenna Coleman is great at playing bitchy characters and her bite fit this character, but I just couldn’t take anymore, and had to stop about halfway through.

When Marlo is unceremoniously ghosted by her part-time lover, she decides she’ll need to avoid the whole Christmas season. That is actually pretty easy in this country, because it’s so hot and so far away from anything that means Christmas to her. Revisado: 06-19-24
Realistic characters, dialogue and situations - but more than that, warm, lighthearted and lovely. The narrator added charm without saccharine or ditziness like some books in this genre can have. So good!
