Once again Mr. Gaiman astounds with a wonderful story about childhood trauma and the memories we lose as we get older. Listening to this as an aduiobook was the right choice, because Neil Gaiman has that soothing voice that really conveys the story brilliantly. Yet another classic in my book from my favorite author!

As a life long Tenacious D fan, this mini biography of the band's chronicling arise to power was a blast to listen to! As is with all their music, I couldn't get enough! Once I started, there was no stopping until it was done. I cannot wait to hear more of the D in the future, no matter the form it arrives in!

Harrow the Ninth is the second in Tamsyn Muir's necromantic Locked Tomb series, picking up shortly after Gideon the Ninth and growing even further this story of necromancers in space.

Harrowhark Nonagesimus is now a Lyctor, one of the King Undying's most prominent generals, but is not complete. Her powers are out of sorts, as is her mind. Her memories are wrong, and she's convinced things are there that no one else can see. She's worried she's gone completely mad, and even worse she's worried if it even matters anymore.

We hear the story told in second person POV, describing Harrow's new life as a Lyctor and all the turmoil and horror it brings as if it were being described to her. At times it got quite confusing, and the story itself was a slow starter, but once it hit its stride it went SPRINTING!

Author Tamsyn Muir's blend of Gothic horror and crude humor is a splendid concoction to behold. It's very difficult to mix these two things together on a good day, but Muir does so with such apparent ease you can't help but be completely astonished when reading. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to be released!

To top it all off, Moira Quirk does an absolutely AMAZING job of narrating this book. I had read the first book in paperback, but had decided to listen to the second book on Audible on a whim, and man am I happy I did. Moira's distinct voice gave life to each character when they spoke, none any more so than Harrow herself. Should this story ever become a movie or TV show and Harrowhark's voice doesn't sound exactly like Moira Quirk's I will be thoroughly disappointed!

An absolutely amazing performance from every VA, a magnificent story narrated by Neil Gaiman himself, and terrific sound mastering by the crew who put this audiobook together, The Sandman Part 2 was everything I'd hoped for and more! I sincerely cannot wait for more!

Different than what you usually expect from Neil Gaiman, but no less enthralling, Norse Mythology is a book of stories about the Norse Gods as explained by Mr. Gaiman himself. It was an absolute delight to hear these stories again, but from the unique perspective of the author, who has professed his own love for the myths. This is well worth the listen, as you might learn a thing or two you didn't know before. I know I did.

I've listened to quite a few celebrity books this past year, but none of them took me by surprise like Corey Taylor's "Seven Deadly Sins." Being the lead singer and songwriter of Slipknot, I expected some heavy tones in his book but I hadn't been prepared for the absolutely massacre he dishes out when describing the seven deadly sins and their effect on our society today. They're outdated, and need to be revised, Mr. Taylor says, and I couldn't agree more. Listening to him talk about how the sins are so culturally ingrained in us that honestly they're part of what makes us human was the most fascinated I've been by any subject all year. He takes his life's experiences and paints them against a backdrop of sin, and how it shaped him into the man he is today. He's led a hard, difficult life, but has come out the other side smiling - albeit a little maniacally - and encourages all of us to embrace our inner sins in order to understand who we are. It's an inspirational, somber, brutal reminder that we're only human, and we should be happy about it.

In a graveyard somewhere nearly forgotten and left alone, a young boy lives his life under the protection of the spirits and creatures who have been buried there. Nobody Owens, his family murdered and the culprit looking for him, grows up surrounded by dead people and is supervised by a man who belongs to neither the living nor the dead. He's a clever young man, intrigued by the world and the people outside the graveyard. He's taught by Ghosts who had died hundreds if not thousands of years earlier. Quite the history lessons you can get from someone who was there.

In a paranormal retelling of The Jungle Book, Nobody Owens must learn from the dead how to live.

Neil Gaiman once again flexes his writing powers on us all, delivering what I'd say is so far my favorite story from him. Listening to the hardships of Bod with a fully voiced cast was absolutely marvelous. I may or may not have been late to work a few times trying to get in a few extra minutes of listening time in the car haha.

I don't want to give much away, but I seriously recommend this book to anyone looking to either add to their collection of Neil Gaiman novels, or someone who is looking to get into his work. You won't be disappointed in the slightest!

Once again we return to the magical world Raen, where Vanessa, Leon, Bobo, and Lyx are once again up against a powerful enemy that threatens their way of life. It's up to this group of misfits to band together and save the day, a second time.

Once again I'm here to say I love the works of Nia Rose, and the amazing way she tells this wondrous story. Everything is so fascinating, all the way down to the background characters. I found myself more than once enthralled in the world of Raen, listening to the amazing voice talent of Alex Goodman explain the day-to-day life of the witches, wizards, ogres, imps, and succubi that make up the characters of this book. I more than once snort-laughed at how things as simple as a restaurant can be ran in this setting.

It's a definite worth-while listen for anyone looking to immerse themselves in a new, unique magical world. I cannot recommend this series enough to all who seek a new thrilling story to fall in love with.

Kevin Smith once again proves he's a master wordsmith by not only writing but narrating a book so insightful you'd think you'd bought a self-help book rather than a funny memoir by one of the best indie filmmakers of our generation. More than once I found myself laughing at his penis jokes but also found myself quietly contemplating the metaphors and musings he expresses in this book. That's the magic of Kevin Smith, he can make you laugh by making fun of his weight but also question your direction in life when not pursuing your passions. He's a testament to how hard work and hard dreaming can win out the day. We should all be more like Kevin Smith, I say.
