Good story, great performance
Revisado: 04-19-21
At last, a reading was pleasant to listen to and not overdone with falsetto voices and arch tone . Ms. Eyre is a delight to listen to.

Historia
Will the last Beverley daughter marry for Mannerling?
Lizzie is the sixth and youngest daughter of the late Sir Beverley, the patriarch who gambled away their beloved estate, Mannerling. Each of Lizzie's sisters had been entrusted by their ambitious mother to cast lures for the various owners of their former home. Instead, each one married for love. Now it's Lizzie's turn to save Mannerling. But the new owner, the Duke of Severnshire, is far too arrogant for Lizzie's heart. And while the duke has no intentions toward the saucy chit, her curt dismissal of him is perplexing - no woman has ever refused him.

Would have enjoyed this except for the awful voices
Revisado: 04-17-21
The voices all sound angry or petulant and whining. The reader’s tone is arch and misses the humor which is a hallmark of Chesney’s writing.

Very enjoyable bedtime reading
Revisado: 10-24-20
Good depiction of 20’s American and English society. Plausible plot. Characterizations a bit thin but will probably be developed more in the series. Especially appreciate women portrayed as smart and daring and men who are not threatened by them.
