DISAPPOINTING
Revisado: 06-16-21
I am returning this book as I can't get past Ch.2 due to the Narrators delivery of the story and the nature of the relationship between the two main characters. The arrogant male and the dumb submitting female. I'm not a prude and don't find the sex scenes offensive like many have, but i can't listen to a story of a Macho Male expecting Women to drop their skirts when he enters a room.

Historia
When Detective Rebecca North left her rural hometown, she vowed never to return. Her father’s apparent suicide has changed that. The official report is that retired cop Noah North shot himself, knocked over a lantern, and set his isolated cabin ablaze. But Rebecca cannot believe he killed himself. To prove it, she needs the help of Ash Haugen, the man she left behind. But Rebecca and Ash share more than broken hearts. Something darker lies between them, and the investigation is stirring it back to life.

Good story, however....
Revisado: 12-31-19
This is the second Loreth Anne White book I have listened to and I have enjoyed them both, however, being Canadian, the pronunciations of some things grated on me as they are not how we would say them. For instance, Toque (wool hat) was pronounced "TOKE" like on a reefer, whereas we pronounce it "TOO:K" and also in the book there was a lot of reference to our RCMP and whenever the narrator said it, it was R_C_M_P (with pauses in between) and that is not how we say it - we just say RCMP (no pauses)
It's worth the listen, but with it being in staged in Canada, and if you are Canadian, you will feel the nails on the chalkboard.
Not sure if all her books are staged in Canada but if there are more to come, I suggest they research the Canadian dialect/pronunciation of words.
I will listen to more, but will be reluctant if the mispronunciations continue

Historia
Murder dogs Jack and Paige Defalco from their days as California prosecutors to their newfound careers as Montana defense attorneys. Never mind that they've uprooted their kids, caravanned 2,000 miles to the hinterlands of Kootenai County, kissed goodbye to their fat salaries, or vowed to avoid homicide. At Deer Lodge State Prison in 1999, murder sits before Paige in the guise of a skeletal, bloody-lipped, broken-nosed teenager who grins out one side of his mouth as he stares at her through a swollen eye.

Couldn't get into this
Revisado: 02-18-17
I found it hard to want to listen to this book. I listen to books on my hour commute and find many books I sit in my car because I can't put it down, per se. In this book, there are many court cases that don't go anywhere. I realize they are there to prove the state of the justice system in this particular State, but I found it difficult to stay engaged. To me it became a more of a story of a self absorbed synical Mom trying to do everything which was a turn off to me. I got about ⅔ of the way through the book but could not finish it, totally lost interest and will be returning it.

LAME! Don't waste your credit!
Revisado: 05-01-16
I took this book based on all the 5 star reviews from Amazon because there were non on Audible... I should have taken that as a sign.
The book was predictable and un-dramatic. It was like listening to June Cleaver read a bedtime story.

Historia
As the dreary, bitter weather of late fall descends on Minneapolis, Detective Nikki Liska is restless. After moving to the cold case squad in order to spend more time with her sons, she misses the rush of pulling an all-nighter, the sense of urgency of hunting a murderer on the loose. Most of all she misses her old partner, Sam Kovac. Sam is having an even harder time adjusting to Nikki's absence, saddled with a green new partner younger than pieces of Sam's wardrobe.

Tami writes great books and this one does not dissapoint! I really enjoyed the crossover "cases" Covak & Liska worked on - it added to the book and mystery.... kept me guessing right to the end. Definately worth the time / read!

Historia
It was a crime so brutal, it changed the lives of even the most hardened homicide cops. The Haas family murders left a scar on the community nothing can erase, but everyone agrees that convicting the killer, Karl Dahl, is a start. Only Judge Carey Moore seems to be standing in the way. Her ruling that Dahl's prior criminal record is inadmissible raises a public outcry, and puts the judge in grave danger.

Narrator .... not so good for this series
Revisado: 03-12-16
Great story - love Tami Hoag books and the story is in line with all of her books. Always enjoy "Kojak & Tinks" but the narrator couldn't deliver on the character of these two. He had an adolescent voice that did not match the gruff cop Covak or tough Liska, so it takes away from the book. Once I finished this one, I immediately went to another in the series with the original narrator and what a difference! There are terrible narrator's and I would NOT say Holter is one, just that he was not suited for this read.

Historia
Clayton Burroughs comes from a long line of outlaws. For generations the Burroughs clan has made their home on Bull Mountain in North Georgia, running shine, pot, and meth over six state lines, virtually untouched by the rule of law. To distance himself from his family's criminal empire, Clayton takes the job of sheriff in a neighboring community to keep what peace he can.

Kept waiting and waiting .............
Revisado: 02-21-16
Loved the performance of Brian Troxell. If it wasn't for him, I would have turned it off and returned the book. Based on all the positive reviews I expected much more. I expected a truly gritty crime story that I would not want to turn off, but when it finally started to get to the meat of the story, it was over.
I got so excited we were finally to reason for all the chapters on the Hillbilly family history that i checked to see if we were going to be moving to the next "download" and was very disappointed to see I had 10 mins left.
I will look for more from the narrator before i do the author.

Unsatisfying
Revisado: 11-06-12
Would you consider the audio edition of BoneMan's Daughters to be better than the print version?
Didn't read the print version, only listen to audio books.
What could Ted Dekker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Spend less time talking about how smart Ryan is. I wanted Ryan to prove how smart he was by "doing" more. I found him to be too much of a thinker instead of an action taker - too passive. I understand analytical and intelligence, but in the situation he was in he needed to use it more - i needed that for the suspense instead of being told how smart Ryan was over and over. Less words, more action.
What three words best describe Robert Petkoff’s voice?
Good for Audiobooks
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
A few times I wanted to turn it off and move to another book.... but I didn't as I kept hoping it would get better

I wanna meet Virgil!
Revisado: 06-22-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes because this author always delivers a good story and love that F'ing Flowers!.
What does Eric Conger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
A good variety of voices and I like the real sound of humour you can hear when he laughs in the story. Wish he did the Davenport series.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely. I listen in my car to and from work and there were many days that i sat in my driveway for 10-15 mins because I couldn't shut it off.
Any additional comments?
Off to find more.
