Historia
From Scotland's most exciting up-and-coming mystery novelist comes a story of Lachlan Harriot, a man who refuses to believe his wife, Susie, is a killer, even though she had been working with Andrew Gow, a paroled serial killer, as his court-appointed psychologist, when she was found covered in blood near the spot where his and his wife's bodies were discovered. Desperate to clear his wife's name, Lachlan searches her home office for proof of her innocence.

Engaging characterization in spite of accent drift
Revisado: 12-13-18
I enjoyed the quick immersion into the character's circumstances and following him through the process of realization / "un-deception". While the reveals of past events are well built, it is the emotional journey which stands out. A native Glaswegian would have helped as the accent veered at times and, having grown up in Glasgow, I found this distracted a little. However the narrator's pace, emphasis and emotional balance of the read meant this audiobook was still enjoyable.

Nearly a decade after his last volume of short stories was published, Jeffrey Archer returns with his eagerly awaited, brand-new audiobook collection. Tell Tale gives listeners a fascinating, exciting, and sometimes poignant insight into the people he has met, the stories he has come across, and the countries he has visited during the past 10 years.

With more than just a twist
Revisado: 05-08-18
Very enjoyable. Only the jarring too-short pause between tales spoils the narration, moving from irritating to disrespectful when the eulogy postscript of “A Good Toss to Lose” runs ironically into the title of “A Perfect Murder”. Please space chapters a second more to let the listener digest - or reach the pause button!

Historia
In The Black Swan Taleb outlined a problem, and in Antifragile he offers a definitive solution: how to gain from disorder and chaos while being protected from fragilities and adverse events. For what Taleb calls the "antifragile" is actually beyond the robust, because it benefits from shocks, uncertainty, and stressors, just as human bones get stronger when subjected to stress and tension. The antifragile needs disorder in order to survive and flourish. Taleb stands uncertainty on its head, making it desirable, even necessary, and proposes that things be built in an antifragile manner.

Raw sense
Revisado: 06-13-17
F***ing great... except for bleeped expletives ;P This is not a live radio broadcast but a private use book. Would you redact the expletives if I bought a printed version? A "strong" language tag could be added or even, given the technology, 2 versions. It almost spoilt the book, highlighting what would have otherwise been mere passing expression of the author's characteristic style - black swans of linguistic authoritarianism...
Anyhow, being antifragile, I didn't let this spoil such a delicious feast of thought. In short: Be ready to adapt to the unforeseeable so as to enjoy living life in the moment.

Historia
We’ve been told that a vegetarian diet can feed the hungry, honor the animals, and save the planet. Lierre Keith believed in that plant-based diet and spent twenty years as a vegan. But in The Vegetarian Myth, she argues that we’ve been led astray - not by our longings for a just and sustainable world, but by our ignorance. e truth is that agriculture is a relentless assault against the planet, and more of the same won’t save us. In service to annual grains, humans have devastated prairies and forests, driven countless species extinct, altered the climate, and destroyed the topsoil - the basis of life itself....

Awful narration
Revisado: 02-07-12
The book is unlistenable as the narrator has unnaturally emphasized and placed inflection, expressing surprise at the end and even in the middle of every sentence.
The stories are classics but hard to evaluate given the distracting reading.

Historia
It is November 1890 and London is gripped by a merciless winter. Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are enjoying tea by the fire when an agitated gentleman arrives unannounced at 221b Baker Street. He begs Holmes for help, telling the unnerving story of a scar-faced man with piercing eyes who has stalked him in recent weeks.

Reflections on Sherlock and ourselves...
Revisado: 11-21-11
Horowitz's novel is worthy of the name, presenting an insightful reworking of Conan Doyle's privileged acts onto a broader stage. Holmes' cold deduction is turned inwards and Watson chronicles are darkened with the consequences. The sequence and pacing lead and capture, enlivened all the more by Jacobi's prowess. A great pleasure - thank you!

If not the greatest certainly Classics...
Revisado: 01-27-09
A fine collection of stories better called Classics rather than the greatest.
However one nagging feature of this recording is that there is less than a 1 second gap between tracks! This eats up that essential pause needed after such calibre of tale for reflection.
Other than that I really enjoyed hearing these again.
