The concept makes sense. Don't know why this method isn't the norm. Michalowicz does a great job of narration. he is very conversational.

Historia
One rainy night, the unthinkable happens: Dylan Moran’s car plunges off the road into a raging river, his beautiful wife drowning as he struggles to shore. In the aftermath, through his grief, Dylan experiences sudden, strange visions: wherever he goes, he’s haunted by glimpses of himself. Dylan initially chalks it up to trauma, but that changes when he runs into a psychiatrist who claims he’s her patient. She says he has been undergoing a unique hypnotherapy treatment built on the idea that with every choice, he creates an infinite number of parallel universes.

Great narration.
Tightly woven. Hard to put down. Each section is integral to the story. Not a word is wasted.

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

Reads like a textbook
Revisado: 07-20-21
The narrator lacks the tonal color necessary to make this interesting.
The book doesn't seem finished. it reads like a textbook or an outline for a novel. The author is telling the story rather than showing the story.

Fantastic Narration
Revisado: 09-03-17
This is probably the best narration I've heard. Fliakos is a man of a thousand voices.
The story drew me in with the government project. It was very similar to the real project the government conducted in the 80s. The story of the family is very interesting. How does a psychic live when he is no longer in business? This is the story of a family of psychics that had been outed as fakes and put out of business, though their powers are quite genuine. Some struggle with their talent, some want it gone, and the grandkids are just aquiring the power.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Slow Start
Revisado: 10-11-15
The novel gets off to a slow start with a series of short stories to introduce this crabby old man who is someone I did not care to know. The previous reviews enticed me to hang in there and things did pick up as we get to know more about Ove's history and life with his neighbors. I found this to be engaging and humorous.

Historia
Amy Morford is a dog whisperer. She's been training dogs for more than two decades and understands what makes your dog tick. How to Speak Dog provides a general overview of dog behavior before specifically focusing in on training solutions for six of the most common dog misbehaviors: aggression, digging, nuisance barking, fear biting, submissive urination, and separation anxiety. Morford understands that not everyone understands "dog talk" so she kicks off by introducing basic obedience training methods. She explains each training situation by breaking it down into chronological micro-steps.

Technobabble
Revisado: 05-13-14
The first chapter is so strewn with techno-babble that it is hard to listen to. The story held my interest but did not capture my emotions. The technology is fully developed but the characters are not, so in the end I did not really care which side won the conflict. The narrator was incredible. I really thought there was more than one person reading.

Hilarious
Revisado: 10-26-12
Drew Silver passes out and wakes in the hospital to learn he must undergo emergency surgery or die. He decides against the surgery. The story follows Silver, a former rock star, over the course of the following week as he learns his teen-aged daughter is pregnant and we learn that he is still madly in love with his ex-wife who is about to marry his doctor. Silver realizes time has moved too fast, and at the same time not at all. Like the universe had been on pause. So, a lot of serious stuff. Broken heart literally, broken heart figuratively, and an unplanned pregnancy. And it is told in the form of a sitcom. It is hilarious. I have never read a comedy before. The book gives you some things to think about in your own life and offers a laugh. Another reader mentioned that the book gets off to a slow start, and I agree. Didn’t know if I would continue, but after about an hour it really gets going. Stick with it.

Good story
Revisado: 05-27-12
Almost four stars. The narrator does a great job. The voice never really changes but he still gives each character a distinct voice.
The story is good, riveting, but not surprising. The author leads us to the conclusion, dropping hints along the way so we aren't thrown for a loop. Most of the story takes place in the courtroom and it held my interest.
