Historia
Luxury villas on hot white sand, views for miles over turquoise water. Flawless hostess Penny gathers guests to an island for her husband’s birthday celebrations. But she soon regrets inviting self-obsessed Eloise. When a child vanishes on the night of the party, their perfect island weekend is ripped apart. Even paradise harbours murky secrets… Has he been taken? Has he drowned? In the panic to find any trace, Penny casts about for someone to blame—even if that person is her own daughter, Rosie. Even clear waters descend to pitch black.

Main characters are horrible people.

I had a hard time sticking with this book because both of the main characters are so dislikable.

Historia
This New York Times best-seller is the astonishing life story of award-winning humanitarian Ayaan Hirsi Ali. A deeply respected advocate for free speech and women's rights, Hirsi Ali also lives under armed protection because of her outspoken criticism of the Islamic faith in which she was raised.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely!
What other book might you compare Infidel to and why?
Brigitte Gabrielle's Because They Hate, but this book is informative in that it details positives and negatives of a girl living in several Muslim cultures over the course of childhood and adolescence.
What does Ayaan Hirsi Ali bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her accented English is at times wordy and clumsy, at least to my American ear; however it accentuates her genuine torment, struggle and growth. I felt as if I was present, experiencing her pain as well as her genuine search for truth and justice, regardless of the cost.
Any additional comments?
I don't agree with all of Ayaan's conclusions regarding the Enlightenment and atheism. I do appreciate her honesty and heart!

Historia
Barbara Demick's Nothing to Envy follows the lives of six North Koreans over fifteen years - a chaotic period that saw the death of Kim Il-sung and the unchallenged rise to power of his son, Kim Jong-il, and the devastation of a far-ranging famine that killed one-fifth of the population. Taking us into a landscape never before seen, Demick brings to life what it means to be an average Korean citizen, living under the most repressive totalitarian regime today.
