Historia
Tender Branson, the last surviving member of the so-called Creedish Death Cult, is dictating his life story into the flight recorder of Flight 2039, cruising on autopilot at 39,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. He is all alone in the airplane, which will crash shortly into the vast Australian outback. But before it does, he will unfold the tale of his journey from an obedient Creedish child and humble domestic servant to an ultra-buffed, steroid-and-collagen-packed media messiah.

I disagree with most of the other reviews
Revisado: 07-28-16
This is a very, very dark book. I personally did not find any humor in this title but I found it to be a 'good read'.
I found Survivor to be interesting from front to back (acknowledging the reverse chapter countdown labeling). I found the last quarter of the book to be just as interesting as the beginning and middle.
I thoroughly enjoyed this listen but I doubt that I will ever do a re-read because while it was interesting it was mentally exhausting to read. Personally,
I suggest listing to this title at normal speed for fifteen to twenty minutes so that the you get the narrative pace locked into your head then gradually speed it up to get through the entire book efficiently.
You will likely enjoy Survivor if you were particularly interested in the Charles Manson Family, Branch Davidians, Heaven's Gate, Peoples Temple (James Jones), etc. Just know that this book is fiction and unrelated to those groups previously mentioned.

Boring Narration, Acceptable Story
Revisado: 06-16-16
This book had to be supplemented with a written version, which only mildly help. It is very difficult to accertain who is speaking during the non-narrative parts. I am definitely following this up with the original black & white movie of 1963. After being such a famous story, I am surprised that it is so difficult to understand and that I feel the need to follow up a book with a movie for satisfaction. Who knows, maybe I am dumb.
This book is a rather exacting reason that many authors should not narrate their own work, many books excepted, especially celebrities.
I have about 150 Audible books and this book is almost the worst I have ever heard. William Golding makes absolutely no vocal changes between characters. That is why I obtained a written version of this book.

This book is meant to be a sincere look at a powerful woman in politics; Hillary Rodham Clinton. The intent of this book is by no means, to be a partisan piece, but an independent and non-biased perspective on one of the most powerful political figures in American history. This book surveys the major challenges and triumphs in her life from her young college days at Wellesley College all the way to her foreign policy dealings as Secretary of State.

With its sophisticated security apparatus and hidden miniaturized cameras, it is being used by the FBI to interview one of the most important witnesses the agency has ever had, a young woman with an incredible story to tell. Good Book But ...
Revisado: 05-14-16
Overall a good enough story.
My biggest problem was the casual then not so casual naming convention used. I found it really confusing during heavy dialogue scenes to keep the characters straight. David Baldacci would use the First Name of someone and perhaps throw in the Last Name. Then paragraphs later only use part of their name. Minutes later he would use only the other part of the same character's name. This paragraph is as easy to understand as keeping track of characters.
Narrator did a pretty good job.

I Really Wanted To Love It But Can't
Revisado: 05-10-16
The best part of this book is that it is halfway an "Action" story but it is free of profanity. Kudos Mathew Mather!
Unfortunately this book will be a dated commodity. I learned the technical jargon a day before starting this book because I did a cursory browsing on the Internet in search of true Darknet and Deepweb technologies. I find that acknowledging that this book will soon be dated is ironic because it's story is future-reaching as I write this review in May 2016.
The story is, of course, science fiction in scope. The overall plot is not plausible in any coming decade. By the time this plot could be in any way feasible, the methods by which we arrive at such a danger will be due to technology that is yet to exist. The author did a poor job of mixing the present with the future. I feel that the intertwining of fact and fiction was a mistake. He should have put more effort into making all the technology fictitious.
I give the story a 3 because I enjoyed the mix of technology with the dialogue and action. Definitely not an edge-of-your-seat thriller but still somewhat enjoyable.
The narrator gets 4 stars because he did a fine job.
Based on the lack of profanity alone, I will give Matthew Mather another chance.

Spoiler Good, Book Bad
Revisado: 04-26-16
It was edge of seat interesting until chap 21 or 22 then it turned demonic.
I don't usually return 'deal of the day" books because of price but this book took such a bad turn half-way through that I am only writing this review to disavow myself of it in the case someone at Audible sees it in my returned books. I stand ashamed.
EDIT: This book is still making me angrry. DO NOT BUY IT. Read the other reviews carefully and trust only the bad ones.

Jenny Mollen is an actress and writer living in Los Angeles. She is also a wife, married to a famous guy (which is annoying only because he gets free shit and she doesn't). She doesn't want much from life. Just to be loved - by everybody: her parents, her dogs, her ex-boyfriends, her ex-boyfriends' dogs, her husband, her husband's ex-girlfriends, her husband's ex-girlfriend's new boyfriends, etc.

I Listened In Basically One Sitting!
Revisado: 02-26-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have already recommended this book to friends. I, also, suggested that they listen via Audible and read it physically at the same time. No, I do not work for Audible.
What other book might you compare Shady Cross to and why?
I have no comparison for this book due to it's story-telling structure, if you will. One might be tempted into a bad habit of calling the plot points in this book "plot twists". I shall try to describe what I mean without giving away any spoilers:There are multiple and fantastic plot points in this story. There are numerous situations that require the protagonist to re-think his strategies, feelings, motivations and actions. The craziest of them might not be feasible but they sure keep you 'on the edge of your seat'. The plot is full of numerous 'enjoyable to read/listen to moments and situations'.Now, with that said, some of these moments indeed provide plot twists. Heck, in another person's mind, maybe they are all plot twists.
OK, don't read this review anymore ... just go get the book.
Have you listened to any of Bon Shaw’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I may or may not have listened to this narrator. Bon Shaw freakishly sounds like R C Bray, of "The Martian" fame. Either the same person under different names or brothers. The Protagonist was smart-mouthed and sarcastic and Bon Shaw has the perfect voice for portraying such a man.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
With the exception of spending 15 minutes with my doctor, I listened to the book from beginning to end in one setting. I bit my nails a bit today before I realized it. The action is non-stop in this thriller.
Any additional comments?
It might a bit passé to say that I rooted for the Protagonist but I did, not for things to turn out well for him, but that he find sure success. You also know that he should pay for all the illegal things he did along the journey. You truly want this criminal to change his wicked ways. Listen to the book and see if he does.

Historia
On the surface, everything is all right with Babbitt’s world of the solid, successful businessman. But in reality, George F. Babbitt is a lonely, middle-aged man. He doesn’t understand his family, has an unsuccessful attempt at an affair, and is almost financially ruined when he dares to voice sympathy for some striking workers. Babbitt finds that his only safety lies deep in the fold of those who play it safe. He is a man who has added a new word to our language: a “Babbitt,” meaning someone who conforms unthinkingly, a sheep.

Started Great
Revisado: 02-24-16
This book was so interesting to me for the first chapters that I immediately checked out Sinclair Lewis' other books. I listened excitedly to the beginning 6 hrs in one sitting. However, it began to drag after that.
For me, when George began acting so negatively toward his wife and seeking an affair with another woman this book took a drastic turn. I kept the book on my phone but I only listened to it between many other books I listened to. After completing another book, if I did not have enough time to "get into" a new book I would fill the rest of my night with Babbit.
It isva shame that all of the other reviewers can so highly praise a book that has a character that seeks to cheat on his wife. It is a sick part of society that obviously all too many relate to.
There are tow reasons I finished this book: (1) I purchased it, (2) the narrator, Grover Gardner, is mesmerizing to listen to. He is the perfect narrator for this book. He has a friendly voice with just a touch of a negative attitude sounding voice.
There are enough redeeming qyalities to merit a rating of a bit over 3.5 (rounded up to 4 because of Gardner's performance).
