Historia
High school sweethearts Sarah and Caleb Linwood have always been a sure thing. For the past seventeen years, they have had each other’s backs through all of life’s ups and downs. But Sarah has begun to wonder . . . who is she without her other half? When she decides to take on a project of her own, a fundraising gala in memory of her late mother, Sarah wants nothing more than to prove to herself—and to everyone else—that she doesn’t need Caleb’s help to succeed. She’s still her mother’s daughter after all, independent and capable.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-14-25
I was so excited for HBYs newest book but this fell flat for me. It didn’t even feel like the same author wrote this book.

Boring

I don’t know why I didn’t DNF this. Bored throughout the whole book. Probably returning to get my credit back.

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 01-10-24
Started this book in late morning and finished after dinner. Loved the Big Little Lies/ Real Housewives drama vibes. Only thing that annoyed me was naming a 30yr old Karen, did not seem generationally accurate. The narrator was great at the different voices and accents.

Historia
When 17-year-old Rune Kristiansen returns from his native Norway to the sleepy town of Blossom Grove, Georgia, where he befriended Poppy Litchfield as a child, he has just one thing on his mind: Why had the girl who was one half of his soul, who promised to wait faithfully for his return, cut him off without a word of explanation?

Too predictable and already done
Revisado: 05-11-23
I’m glad this was a free book. The whole thing was too predictable. A mix of A Walk to Remember and The Fault in our Stars. I think if Poppy and Rune were in their 20s I would’ve liked it better. Rune was too annoying for me. This girl is dying let her family be with her. He was a whiny, selfish teenager.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Wonderful story
Revisado: 05-08-23
This was a great book and a quick read. Elizabeth reminded me a lot of Brennan from Bones in how everything had to be factual and scientific. I enjoyed the science humor. The gender bias was so frustrating, but important for the reader to know that this is what it was really like for women, just a few decades ago.

Historia
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Great story
Revisado: 05-03-23
This was a great book, something I don’t typically read. The only thing I didn’t like was the change in voice for part seven. I wish they would’ve kept the same voice for the whole book.
