Historia
1950: Margaret Devonshire (Megs) is a 17-year-old student of mathematics and physics at Oxford University. When her beloved eight-year-old brother asks Megs if Narnia is real, logical Megs tells him it’s just a book for children, and certainly not true. Homebound due to his illness, and remaining fixated on his favorite books, George presses her to ask the author of the recently released novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a question: “Where did Narnia come from?”

Enchanting story I didn’t want to end
Revisado: 01-08-25
The story is utterly enchanting and the narrator is absolutely perfect for it. This is one I will listen to again and again.

Historia
What a delight it is to finally be able to enjoy a simple meal again! I have been in the throes of morning sickness for the last few months as Darcy and I prepare to welcome a brand-new addition to our little family. Now that I am feeling better, I have realized I am dreadfully bored! It seems that all my nearest and dearest are off leading their own busy lives while I sit at home and attempt to train our two adorably naughty puppies. Fun as it may be, it is hard not to long for a little adventure, a change of pace, before my true confinement begins when the baby comes.

My favorite so far
Revisado: 07-01-23
I adore the whole series, but for some reason this is my favorite book (so far) — I didn’t want it to end! So many colorful new characters and new layers of existing ones revealed.

Historia
September 1909, and Lady Hardcastle and her maid, Florence, have been invited to Lord Riddlethorpe’s country estate for a week of motor racing and parties. They both agree that it sounds like a perfectly charming holiday. But when one of the drivers dies in a crash during the very first race, they discover that what seemed like an uncharacteristic error in judgement may have a more sinister explanation...

Thoroughly delightful
Revisado: 03-12-19
This entire series is delightful. I have heard all in it to date and want more! Elizabeth Knoweldon's dialect gymnastics create beautifully distinct characters and I sometimes forgot ii was listening to a single narrator.

Historia
Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas's epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare's greatest plays. 'Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearsome Stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything.

An absolute delight for Star Wars fans
Revisado: 08-07-18
This such an enjoyable, refreshing presentation for Star Wars fans, whether or not you know much about Shakespeare's style and works. After the conclusion of the story, be sure to listen to the author's comments and explanations about his (oh so clever!) choices in "Shakespeare-izing" Star Wars.
Once you've listened to this first book, you'll definitely want to hear the second and third, "The Empire Striketh Back" and "The Jedi Doth Return"!

Delighted to find this fave on Audible!
Revisado: 11-13-17
I discovered this book as a teen in my high school library and it has been the one book I've read and reread the most over the years. When I discovered a local bookseller of rare and used books Our Hearts Were Young and Gay was first on my list to look for. (They had it and it was a first edition!) It doesn't matter that I've read it countless times (a wild guess would be 30+), I still dissolve into giggles at the authors' misadventures every single time. I was delighted to find it on Audible and can now dive back into Cornelia's and Emily's teenage misadventures in Europe while on the go. Celeste Lawson's performance is delightful!
