Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

INTENSE
Revisado: 09-06-22
Devastating, beautiful, graphic, honest, brilliant, inspiring ! This was hard to listen at times, I started crying while on the street…but so amazingly proud and grateful for Jeannette and her team!

Historia
Kling's autobiographical tales are as enchanting as they are true to life: hopping freight trains, getting hit by lightning, performing his banned play in Czechoslovakia, growing up in Minnesota, and eating things before knowing what they are. In the comical yet poignant title story, Kling straddles the world of the ordinary and one rivaling Dante's inferno as he learns how to use voice-recognition software after a life-threatening motorcycle accident.

Kevin is treasure chest
Revisado: 08-21-21
Kevin is a treasure chest full of stories, his own and other peoples’. His voice makes him sound like a goofball, but I’m from GA, so what do I know about Minnesota. I laughed so hard that I cried and cried for the sincere honesty that flowed from his brain to his mouth by way of his heart. I’ve always liked Kevin Kling from his NPR bits and now I love him like the brother I never had.

Baltimore resident responds
Revisado: 07-15-21
I live in Fells Point, a historic neighborhood in Baltimore. I have been involved in non-profit groups that worked in Baltimore’s poor neighborhoods. I’ve known about BPD targeting black residents, and unfortunately, have been too naive about this incredible corruption. Even after knowing about the task force, this book has given me a much better understanding of the extent. The BPD has a long way to go to restore the trust that Baltimore’s citizens need to feel good about the city. Mr. Fenton deserves all the praise and awards that may come his way. His courage and research is well woven through the stories herein. Thank you.

One Way Out is the powerful biography of the Allman Brothers Band, an oral history written with the band's participation and filled with original, never-before-published interviews as well as personal letters and correspondence. This is the most in-depth look at a legendary American rock band that has meant so much to so many for so long. For 25 years, Alan Paul has covered the Allman Brothers Band, conducting hundreds of interviews, riding the buses with them, attending rehearsals and countless shows.

Why 5 stars?
Revisado: 11-08-20
I’m from GA, though now live in Baltimore. I saw the ABB play live at the Atlanta Pop festival and I have never stopped loving them. I do admit the post Duane years are less familiar, but this book has filled in much of the story I was missing. The book has the same heart and soul that I now know makes the Allman Brothers Band.

Historia
It is 1803, six years since Elizabeth and Darcy embarked on their life together at Pemberley, Darcy’s magnificent estate. Their peaceful, orderly world seems almost unassailable. Elizabeth has found her footing as the chatelaine of the great house. They have two fine sons, Fitzwilliam and Charles. Elizabeth’s sister Jane and her husband, Bingley, live nearby; her father visits often; there is optimistic talk about the prospects of marriage for Darcy’s sister Georgiana. And preparations are under way for their much-anticipated annual autumn ball.

Very Austen with a faster pace.
Revisado: 11-07-12
Ms. Landor gives life to the words, but doesn't overshadow the tone of the book. I started with the print version and changed to the audio version. Its was a seamless transition. The male voices are very nicely in keeping their characters.
The side stories of the the secondary characters are intriguing and well done. I especially liked the treatment of the Esteemed Lady Catherine De Bourgh. The other characters are treated with the same poignancy that Austen showed, and once again you kind of like Wickham but you know you shouldn't !
