A masterpiece from beginning to end
Revisado: 05-19-24
An incredible tale told in the language of the cowhands I grew up with. If it’s not true it should be. Appreciate the view of native Americans as something more than one dimensional savages or romantic hero’s.

Well written with a take on a crime from the perspective of the father of the person of interest. What do you have next for us Mr Cook?

Historia
Con man Joe Berlin was used to scoring easy cash off of gullible women. But that was before he met Mona Brassard - and found himself holding a stolen stash of raw heroin. Now that Joe has fallen hard for Mona, he's got to pull off the most dangerous con of his career: one that will leave him either a killer - or a corpse. Block's debut novel under his own name is a classic example of prime pulp fiction, with an ending that will astonish even the most jaded crime-fiction fan.

I like Block’s writing style. Enjoyed the story and the ending was great! Would recommend.-even if the main characters are creepy as all get out.

Historia
Terrorism, duty, and personal safety collide when Jake Pendleton, an investigator for the NTSB, is called to investigate an aircraft accident in Savannah, Georgia during the St. Patrick's Day celebration. The accident, which at first appears to be quite run-of-the-mill, turns out to be anything but. Since Jake is not willing to pretend there are no suspicious circumstances and more than the usual share of rather unlikely "coincidences," he sets off a veritable avalanche of secrets, violence and treachery.

Boring
Revisado: 06-22-22
Over-wrought and cliche-riddled. Nothing about this story made me care what happened to the main character or the least bit interested in who done it. Could have been good had the writing been better.

Historia
On the first day of her new job, Harris is called to the scene of a brutal murder at the heart of Surrey society. A shocking crime, with a meticulous killer: the victim’s eyes have been removed and the body drained of blood, with no forensic evidence left at the scene. Her boss insists it must be the return of a killer who escaped justice several years ago, leaving a trail of bloody ritualistic killings. Harris isn’t so sure: both sets of victims have had their eyes removed, but other details are significantly different.

Good story with a fascinating lead. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Bad writing bad performance
Revisado: 02-27-22
Bad writing filled with cliches. Hispanic characters were Jose, Maria , etc. the women are beautiful, the Texas ranger was tall silent and rugged, and dialog is cringe-worthy. Most annoying was how the characters would ask inane questions. Ex: after finding a van with wooden seats down the cargo area at a dead bad guy’s house, Lilyana asks “I wonder how he makes his money?” Every reader ever is shouting “he’s a coyote you nitwit!!!!!!!” What editor lets a writer get away with this type of sophomoric dribble? Move on to other titles. Nothing to see here.

Stop with the graphic sex
Revisado: 01-10-22
Lord what a train wreck. Bombshell model becomes forensic investigator. Romance is of the I hate you I hate you I can’t keep my hands off of you cliche. Graphic sex. Thank goodness it was free. Would have been ticked if I had paid money for this.
