Historia
In The Land: Predators, the Mist Village has harnessed its power. With core buildings, professional fighters, and now their own dungeon, the settlement is primed to grow into a kingdom of true power and magic. The path to power has not been without risk, however. The MistVillage has been noticed. Evil nobles from the Kingdom of Law, bloodthirsty goblins from the Serrated Mountains, an undead lord with a penchant for human sacrifice, and fanatical kobolds from the Depths all plot the village's destruction.

Losing Some of Its Magic
Revisado: 07-23-19
Excellent series, but starting with Chapters 6 and 7, Dr. Kong began getting too heavy on the stats descriptions for items, people, plants, animals, dungeons, personal gear, and buildings, etc. Much of it was repeated information. Many of his Readers no doubt had a firm basis and read the details already. This is the digital age and no one is going to pick up a series 7 book at the airport, so I am not sure why he repeats these internal details so often (it was too much fluff distracting from the story) Also, the conversation with Randy was a little " Matrix II and III" type in style with too much awkward "Land Techniques and language" dialogue and esoteric explanations. In the first books, the stats and Land's internal working drove the story and were sporadic and brief. In Book 7, I was almost five hours into the audiobook until the story actually started. Kong writes a great thriller and provides necessary insights, but "less is more". Chapters One through Ten were tough and the conversation with Randy was way too long and filled with esoteric distraction. Hoping for more story and less details about stats and builds.
Podehl is great as always.

Historia
In terms of geopolitics, perhaps the most seminal event of the Middle Ages was the successful Ottoman siege of Constantinople in 1453. The city had been an imperial capital as far back as the fourth century, when Constantine the Great shifted the power center of the Roman Empire there, effectively establishing two almost equally powerful halves of antiquity's greatest empire. Constantinople would continue to serve as the capital of the Byzantine Empire even after the Western half of the Roman Empire collapsed in the late fifth century.

Seriously lacking in unique content. Starts off kind of disorderly then goes over brief highlights readily available on wikipedia. Narrator is monotone throughout and even stumbles on some words too often. Not a good buy.

Historia
In a world full of super powers, Felix had a pretty crappy one. After learning to harness his ability to modify any item he owns, he now runs a corporation that is rapidly expanding - Legion. After tangling with the local Heroes guild they’ve finally settled into a semblance of stability. Sounds great on paper. Run your company, make money, be your own boss, settle down. Except that with running a business, comes an inordinate amount of responsibilities. Like making sure everything keeps running and your people are paid.

A globally renowned materials scientist, Miodownik has spent his life exploring objects as ordinary as an envelope and as unexpected as concrete cloth, uncovering the fascinating secrets that hold together our physical world.

Droning
Revisado: 05-05-16
What would have made Stuff Matters better?
Better cover stories and historical narratives regarding the advancement of materials. Less recitation of endless uses for materials (such as the ad nauseum list for paper) and meaningless tangents stories from the author's life, which - no offense, are boring excuses to lead up to the actual chemistry & physics of the material.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Not sure. Ratings appear to be inflated on this site.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Nothing. He could have not over done his British accent anymore.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Stuff Matters?
All of the authors personal observation of the cultural uses of materials. Many are boring and others are just "D'uh", we used card for tickets?
Any additional comments?
Overinflated.
