Historia
This sprawling and often brutal novel, set in the rich farmlands of California's Salinas Valley, follows the intertwined destinies of two families - the Trasks and the Hamiltons - whose generations helplessly reenact the fall of Adam and Eve and the poisonous rivalry of Cain and Abel.

Beautifully written. This story made me aware of the fragility of mankind. I could see bits and pieces of us all in side its pages. Even the best of us have another side.

Historia
The first biography of the great Shawnee leader in more than 20 years, and the first to make clear that his misunderstood younger brother, Tenskwatawa, was an equal partner in the last great pan-Indian alliance against the United States. Tecumseh and the Prophet presents the untold story of the Shawnee brothers - the two most significant siblings in Native American history, who, Cozzens helps us understand, should be writ large in the annals of America.

As I grew up close to the Shawnee area in Eastern KS,I heard a lot about Tuecumaee and the Shawnee tribe. It was pleasure hear his history and learn of his stature and personality. I enjoyed this book very much.

Historia
The tiny, well-ordered seaside village of Merham holds little to interest the adventurous - except for Arcadia, the breathtaking art deco house perched above the shoreline. Attracted to this magical place, young Lottie Swift surrenders freely to its temptations and ultimately must face the hard consequences of her actions. Years later, another young woman comes to Merham. A designer hired to make over the now-empty Arcadia, Daisy Parsons seeks a new beginning, as Lottie once did. Fleeing a broken relationship, Daisy finds refuge at Arcadia, and something more - a love she thought she would never know again.

Unrequited love
Revisado: 01-05-25
A story filled with people’s lives and loves in a beautiful setting. A beautiful older house set a backdrop for those that lived there and those that wandered through. Some fell in love but never seemed to enjoy their lives together. It ended well enough but seemed sadly to be lives unfulfilled.

Historia
General Chuck Yeager was the greatest test pilot of them all - the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound...the World War II flying ace who shot down a Messerschmitt jet with a prop-driven P-51 Mustang...the hero who defined a certain quality that all hotshot fly-boys of the postwar era aimed to achieve: the right stuff. Now he tells his whole incredible life story with the same “wide-open, full throttle” approach that has marked his astonishing career.

Historia
Alizée Benoit, an American painter working for the Works Progress Administration (WPA), vanishes in New York City in 1940 amid personal and political turmoil. No one knows what happened to her. Not her Jewish family living in German-occupied France. Not her artistic patron and political compatriot, Eleanor Roosevelt. Not her close-knit group of friends, including Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, and Lee Krasner.

A genius of the financial and humanity world
Revisado: 05-04-20
A good title because the Snowball is actually how Buffet grew. He also knew how to pack the snow, turn it into a snowman and a snow fort.
A personal idol because of his common sense, wisdom, and ethics. It is full of names unknown to me and figures that gave me a headache. I decided to take a "Bufferin" and trust Mr. Buffet. He's quite a contribution to our society.

Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

I thought this is a wonderful autobiography and perfect for Audible. Not only did we get to hear James talk about his life and the problems he had, but he was able to weave his music throughout to show how life was reflected in his art. Great job, James.

Historia
Mo Rocca has always loved obituaries - reading about the remarkable lives of global leaders, Hollywood heavyweights, and innovators who changed the world. But not every notable life has gotten the send-off it deserves. His quest to right that wrong inspired Mobituaries, his number one hit podcast. Now with Mobituaries, the audiobook, he has gone much further, with all new essays on artists, entertainers, sports stars, political pioneers, founding fathers, and more. Even if you know the names, you’ve never understood why they matter...until now.

I love ya' MO , but maybe.....
Revisado: 02-01-20
I have enjoyed Mo Rocca since I first saw him on Sunday Morning CBS. His book is filled with interesting facts and "the rest of the story" (as it has been said by another announcer}. I found the information interesting and worthy of Mo's skills of research and humor. My only negative comment is that for all of it's wonderful information, I had trouble with the "machine gun" delivery of so many facts and stories. Your one-at-a time Mobituaries on TV seem to make more of an impact, because your audience gets a chance to absorb the story and humor. It is slower, yet more effective in pieces. Keep on, keeping on Mo. It's all good "stuff".
