I have followed Rosalee since 2018 and particularly this year, I have looked forward to my Wednesday inbox with her new podcast. I am guessing this has been available on Audible for a while, but I didn't know until a couple weeks ago and I am over the moon! This is the easiest way for me because I am an Audible addict and love that I can press play and not worry about accidently hitting the wrong button and having it turn off or being taken to someplace else like the popular video platform I had been using. Hooray and jubilation to find that I can access my favorite podcast right here! Thank youuuuuuuu! - Kat

Rosalee is a gem and I appreciate the introduction to other gems (both humans and plants) that she shows us via her podcast work! I purchased Lucy's book before the episode was even over and am grateful for this new (for me) information about Althaea. Thank you! - Kat M

I won't spoil the ending, but we were left saying, "wait, that's it?!"
From the get-go, I did not like how the story described what she was wearing all the time. I feel those things should be left to the imagination of the reader unless its something specific that's needed for the story. The story also repeatedly explained certain things, such as Gomez, the office AI.... once was enough. The reader should know who Gomez is after it was said once.
Since I have teens, I like and read a fair amount of YA and sci-fi is one of my favorite genres. But my kids and I were not thrilled with this. There were some interesting aspects, like the nanobots in the blood. But the good did not outweigh the bad for us on this one. I liked the cats as a major character, but the narrator's cat sounds were a bit disturbing.

Knowing nothing about this book before starting into it, it took me a while to figure out Kel was a young man and Delilah was not an old maid, due to the narration. When the narrator was just reading the text, it was fine, but whenever he would do a character's voice, it made things very confusing and misleading. For example, teenage girls sounded like cackling old stereotypical witches. However, I would not say that the narration should turn you away from this book. Just note, it takes some getting used to and it is something to overcome. The story itself is wonderful! After the slowness of the first quarter of the book, the story really picks up and is full of wonder, suspense, and discovery. I am really enjoying this series. In case this is for your child, I'd say this would be rated PG, whereas the next book is a bit under PG-13.
