Great for Harry Potter fans!

I've always a sucker for the underdog stories. this is the perfect example of one of those stories. and if you like Harry Potter you'll love Witchlings. I'm glad I chose this to listen to while traveling out of state and can't wait for book two to learn more about the 12 towns and see what the spares do next.

Stories Within Stories? Yes!

listened on Audible and the narrator was wonderful, changing her tone with each character and I could feel the emotion as she read. So many stories by the MC that were told to her when she was on earth woven into this story about her journey to Saga and what she does to survive once there and woken. She lost so much but then gained so much in the end. Heartbreaking, mystical, intense and joyful. An absolute must read, or listen!

Loved this spooky tale.

Loved this story. I think it is a perfect read for middle grade kids because there is lots of emotions, semi scary, and possibly lessons they may not realize they are learning through this spooky tale.

Great Mystery!

This was one that kept you guessing until the end. Diana Urban did a fabulous job weave the past with the present and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering who the heck was the guilty party that put everyone in the same room. The narrator, Kate Rudd, also did a wonderful job creating different voices for each character, which pulls you into the story even more.

This story took so many turns, I loved it keeping me guessing. I also loved how the story connected to characters in the original book and made some more important for this one than the first. Very cool.

Fantastic Mystical Story!

I wasn't as familiar with some of the Gods and Goddesses in this story, which made it refreshing to hear about. I was totally engrossed in Annaliese and Marek's adventure, cringing every corner thinking "Don't go, a Good will be there and kill you!" And now I can't wait to read the sequel because I NEED to know what is going to happen with her brother, Dalton, after that amazing ending!

Inconsistencies and plot holes, but good Premise.

There are a lot of inconsistencies and plot holes,, as well as repetition of actions that were stated back-to-back and just worded in different ways. Also, there were some major similarities with Twilight in certain spots of the storyline, which made it feel like a rip-off (or is this what fan fiction is because I've never read it). And the narrator's Scottish and Romanian accents lacked experience. Also, with Echo's twin's name in the title, I kept waiting to learn the steps (13) of how she finds her way back to her in the veil, but it never happened. That would've been cool. However, with all this said, the premise was good, so the story wasn't boring. It just felt incomplete in several ways.

Interesting and Frustrating at the same time.

I was very intrigued by Nile's brother and the possibility of finding a way to help him control his magic. I thought he'd be in the book more as being an uncontrolled obstacle, but he wasn't. This somehow disappointed me. And though I found the tale of a princess journeying undercover as a common sailor interesting, I often had to remind myself that the author was, in fact, a woman and not a man, because I had a hard time believing some of the responses Nile would give. I felt disengaged with the character sometimes, but this might be from the telling narration, rather than showing. I cared more about her and her brother, than her journey on the ship with Domenic. I never felt true energy between them. And it took way to long for Nile to finally use her magic, like the next to last chapter, I think. And the cliffhanger was unsatisfactory because I believe the story ended to soon, and much of the middle could have been cut. However, I didn't dislike the story, it just wasn't a favorite. The audible narrations was VERY GOOD! The way Kaitlin Bellamy changed her voice with different characters made the story come to life, like watching a movie, which honestly might be what kept me listening. LoL

Another Great Whodunnit!

Karen wove another great story that left me constantly wondering how girls, that either disappeared or were found murdered many years apart, were connected. And every time a new clue popped up, it would point in a different direction for the possibility of entirely different criminal. This story will keep you guessing until the very end. And you could hear the emotion in both narrators as they read, which made the characters come alive. I highly recommend this!

Fair Story
