Historia
At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Amazing Book, Okay Audio
Revisado: 05-21-17
Two separate readers pronouncing the same name differently is incredibly jarring. Especially when that name is too a major character. And especially when the second reader uses the name for the first time 3/4 of the way through the story. I honestly didn't even know who this person was for twenty minutes. And it was like nails on a chalkboard each time it was mispronounced.
It's a minor quibble, the book is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. And both readers are excellent. But seriously, is there no director to ensure the pronunciations are at least similar?!
Oh well. Buy the book. You won't regret it.

Six years later he was in Iraq as a member of a team of high-ranking retired and active-duty military working for the highest level of marine military intelligence. His success in Iraq led to a position as a law enforcement professional with the marines in Afghanistan.

Overly Friendly Bumbling Has-been Goes to War
Revisado: 03-06-17
He is reluctantly tolerated because the Marines are obligated to do so.
Even with the first person spin his retelling of these events inevitably generates, it's apparent that he was a constant burden, embarrassment and inconvenience to the Marines and Contractors he managed to get himself embedded with. To be fair I only got about half way through the book before I lost my patience.
I saw too many variations of this guy while working overseas. I didn't care to finish reading yet another chow-hall warrior's tall tales.

Great book that up till recently was Kindle only
- De Josh P en 12-21-13
it's for children
Revisado: 02-01-17
the audiobooks director doesn't seem to understand periods, nor chapters. frequently the reader will flow from the end of a sentence into "chapter X" "title of chapter" and then the first line of the paragraph without so much as pausing to breathe. it's like a voice program is reading, its utterly jarring.
as for the story, it's fine if your reader is about 10-14 years old. it's a bit violent for a young adult novel, but if you don't look at as a kids book it's fundamentally silly.
