Historia
Dr. Jonathan Weber, Harvard professor and biblical scholar, is looking forward to his sabbatical year on an archaeological dig in Israel. But a spectacular find that seems to be an archaeologist’s dream-come-true becomes a nightmare that many fear will be the death rattle of Christianity. Carefully researched and compellingly written, A Skeleton in God’s Closet explores the tension between faith and doubt when science and religion collide. In the end, it’s a thought-provoking thriller, driven by one man’s determination to find the truth—no matter the cost.

Well done, fun adventure
Revisado: 04-20-24
This book was fun to listen to, and the storyline was not only interesting, but lacked the cringy shallowness of some Christian novels and dialogues. I was prepared for it to be fairly corny and it wasn't at all. I look forward to listening to more of Paul Maier's books.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

Raunchy. Gratuitous sex and cussing gets old.
Revisado: 03-25-22
I'm quitting just over half way through. Characters are unlikeable. I'm exhausted with Netflix-style raunchy content that is unnecessary. I've been reading more novels trying to escape it and give my soul a bit if a break but this book is just cheap Netflix series on page verses screen. It's full of uninteresting and annoying personalities with nothing redeeming it.

Excellent information; narration not so good
Revisado: 02-14-22
The writer/reader uses a hard-to-stay-tuned-in, sing-song tone with repetitive sentence structure that is incredibly annoying; however this improves about 3/4 of the way through. His expertise and shared personal experiences make pushing through worth it!

Historia
Rabbits is a mysterious alternate reality game so vast it uses the entire world as its canvas. Since the game started in 1959, 10 iterations have appeared and nine winners have been declared. The identities of these winners are unknown. So is their reward, which is whispered to be NSA or CIA recruitment, vast wealth, immortality, or perhaps even the key to the secrets of the universe itself. But the deeper you get, the more dangerous the game becomes. Players have died in the past - and the body count is rising. And now the 11th round is about to begin.

Ridiculous amount of F boms

So gratuitous it reminded me of 7th graders who are experimenting with cussing. The F boms we're a distraction. The story was intriguing.

Not brilliant.
Revisado: 07-24-21
Odd writing style. Odd narration. Be sure and listen to the sample before ordering and don't expect much from the story. As the reader, having invested time and credits, I felt pressured to buy-in and care about these characters but the writing gave me no reason to do so. Marginally entertaining on long drive.

Historia
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

Unbelievably well-written work that captures not only the story of Bonhoeffer, but a fascinating perspective of WWII. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Historia
Composed in the last years of Roberto Bolaño's life, 2666 was greeted across Europe and Latin America as his highest achievement, surpassing even his previous work in its strangeness, beauty, and scope. Its throng of unforgettable characters includes academics and convicts, an American sportswriter, an elusive German novelist, and a teenage student and her widowed, mentally unstable father. Their lives intersect in the urban sprawl of Santa Teresa - a fictional Juárez - on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Average, with goofy dialogue.

The medical component was interesting but the way the story played out was not particularly creative. The banter between the two main characters was pretty bad.
