Unique and Enthralling
Revisado: 01-14-24
This is one of the best audiobook narrations I’ve listened to. The story is unique and enthralling. Brom has created a cast of characters whose actions touch on every emotion. Stomach churning and tears threatened to erupt as I fell further into the setting and the wonders of 1666 Puritan society.
Samson, The Wild Folk, and Abatha are characters that will remain with me for quite some time. I will most definitely listen to this book again.
If I had to give one slight to the narration, it would be the epilogue. I sensed the narrator’s uncertainty as to how to narrate the dialogue between two men from West Virginia. It sounded as though she was trying to wrap in the stereotype of a redneck/bumpkin identity to their voices. But the ending was superb.

Every family and every house has secrets.
Revisado: 10-20-23
I thoroughly enjoyed this story as the narrator takes you into multiple homes where you are introduced to the seemingly mundane lives of families and couples who make up the village’s populace. However, as the main character, Olive, discovers, secrets are lurking around every door.
There is a quiet horror behind some of the secrets and the author brilliantly sets the scene as each layer is peeled away to reveal the brutality in some cases and the oddity in other cases of the families who inhabit the village.
The ending was satisfying and unsettling.

Mr. Stoker and I met each dawn on the East Cliff in the shadow of Whitby Abbey. On a bench overlooking the sea, Bram soon became the confidant I had yearned for. So, in faith, I shared the events that tormented my youth and left me haunted. And after that chance encounter, I will forever live within the pages of what became Bram Stoker’s masterpiece, for it was my story that inspired Dracula.

A Masterful Retelling of an All-time Classic
Revisado: 06-06-23
I’m not quite sure where to start, but I’ll say I absolutely loved this story. This is the fourth book of Wright’s I have listened to and this one went beyond all expectations.
Wright’s creative mastery of gothic prose blended perfectly into this tale that takes a unique twist to Bram Stoker’s Dracula for it is this story that will inspire Stoker to write his Dracula. How’s that for a new spin on a classic? I’ll tell you, it is simply “genius.” Wright provides just enough horror to get the listener’s blood pumping as the vampire emerges but I won’t give any spoilers. You’ll have to read/listen for yourself.
The narration by Lesley Dessalles is wonderful, her voice blends perfectly with the gothic horror prose. I expect I’ll be listening to more of her works.
I’ll definitely keep listening and reading more of Becky Wright’s works. If 10 out of 5 stars was possible, that would be my rating.

Atmospheric Story Layered with the Supernatural
Revisado: 01-29-23
Once again, Becky Wright’s storytelling did not disappoint. Remember to Love Me is part love story and part ghost story woven with supernatural elements and intriguing characters. Wright’s style of storytelling brings you directly into the setting. I was saddened to finish it as I was so wrapped up in the escape to the English seaside. It was as though a long-needed vacation had come to an end. The narration is fabulous and I look forward to more of both this author and narrator.

Entertaining horror story
Revisado: 09-11-22
I decided to give this book a try given the hype it has received and the various reviews mostly separating readers into the “love it” or “didn’t love it” categories.
The narration certainly added to the creepy atmosphere of the story. At times, I was as queasy and nauseous as the characters. The narrator’s ability to tap into this physical response from me places the narration into 5-star category.
The story was creepy and at times the “writing” in my opinion seemed raw and unpolished but that’s what made Stolen Tongues authentic as it wasn’t being dragged down by some imagined sophistication on the writer’s part. Blackwell has written an entertaining book and that’s exactly what I was hoping to listen to.
The only part of the audible edition that threw me off and threatened to dampen the experience was the “author’s explanation” at the end of the book, so I clicked the pause button on the final few words.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

What more can I say? I loved this audible book. The narrator's voice was perfectly tuned and the story was full and layered with intrigue, fact, and fiction when necessary. It was a marathon of a listen but well worth it. I had to stop the tears several times. Finally, Eliza Hamilton was given her due.

Historia
Eliza lives darkness’ dream. A maid in a great house, owned by indifferent aristocrats, run by their three cruel daughters. Daily beatings, tricks, and cruelties by the Norlane sisters have left Eliza a mute shell, a vacant vessel besieged by fear. Yet, alone as she feels, as small and insignificant as her life seems, something is watching her. Darkness lives in the forbidden forest beyond the neat and orderly civility of Norlane Hall. Wickedness hears Eliza’s silent tears, rises to the vibrations of her body that quivers in terror.

Wow. What did I just listen to? The narration was perfect. At times I wasn’t sure as to where the story was going but that didn’t matter as I was so completely captivated by the narrator’s voice. The entire story unveils itself like a beautiful gothic poem that tugged at every emotion. I may need to read the book.
I’ll definitely read/listen to more from this author.

Wow. What can I say, other than I didn’t want the story to end. It is beautifully written with intense gothic horror and paranormal/fantasy threads set against the backdrop of modern times set against the backdrop of ancient folklore.
I literally cringed and squirmed with some of the descriptions and held my breath as my heart ached for the characters.
I will definitely be listening and reading to more books from this author.

Chilling, heart-aching, paranormal horror-suspense
Revisado: 10-08-21
Having read Clarke’s other books, I was intrigued by the storyline for The Neighbor, which appeared to be a slight departure from her other books. I was not disappointed–This book delivers through a skilled and intimate narration which left me cringing and near tears at times. I was only able to listen to it in 20 minute increments–yes, it is that intense. I could literally feel the horror and anxiety of the lead character as she fought the demons–both personal and literal.
If you are looking for a thrill ride with twists and turns that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your own sanity then The Neighbor fits the bill.
