Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

It’s a Grisham. It’s great.

As always good character development. Michael Beck did a great job.
Good enough story that my tears got a bit wet for the bad guy at the end.

Historia
When Jane Mooney’s violent stepfather, Warren, disappeared, most folks in Maud Bottoms, Arkansas, assumed he got drunk and drowned. After all, the river had claimed its share over the years. When Jane confessed to his murder, she should have gone to jail. That’s what she wanted. But without a body, the police didn’t charge her with the crime. So Jane left for Boston—and took her secrets with her. Twenty-five years later, the river floods and a body surfaces.

Almost unpredictable
Revisado: 01-24-23
I liked the story but I felt like we got to know the who with a little too much story left.
The character development was so good. The descriptions of the events as they unfolded as remembered by the character was also very good.

Historia
Lewis Madigan is young, gay, out of work, and getting antsy when he’s roped into providing end-of-life care for his insufferable homophobic neighbor, Chester Wheeler. Lewis doesn’t need the aggravation, just the money. The only requirements: run errands, be on call, and put up with a miserable old churl no one else in Buffalo can bear. After exchanging barbs, bickering, baiting, and pushing buttons, Chester hits Lewis with the big ask. Lewis can’t say no to a dying wish.

Unusual story line. I liked it.
Revisado: 01-09-23
First of all there is Michael Crouch. Great narrator and perfect for this story.
The story was somewhat predictable but livable just the same. Good look into human nature. This book also explored peoples preconceived notions of others and how just maybe if they discover they have been wrong about those notions, they can change.
I love the author. She often includes gay characters without making a big fuss about sexuality. It just is one part of the character. That’s the reality of it so it’s nice to see.

A few tears at the end
Revisado: 01-01-23
The twists in this short love story were perfect. By the end I knew the characters as well as if it was a 500 pager. Loved them.

Historia
Ari has spent all of high school burying who he really is, staying silent and invisible. He expected his senior year to be the same. But something in him cracked open when he fell in love with Dante, and he can’t go back. Suddenly he finds himself reaching out to new friends, standing up to bullies of all kinds, and making his voice heard. And, always, there is Dante, dreamy, witty Dante, who can get on Ari’s nerves and fill him with desire all at once. The boys are determined to forge a path for themselves in a world that doesn’t understand them.

Nice young live story
Revisado: 10-31-22
Overall I loved the story and of course Lin Manuel was the best choice. Some lines/actions were repeated so often we started making fun whenever we knew it was happening. Otherwise great young adult queer story.

Open my heart to hope
Revisado: 03-28-21
I appreciated the events that made this story possible. So many people had to open their minds and hearts equally to create and participate in the Manley Rowing team and they did.
Giving people a chance counts for so much.
Thank you fir warming my heart and providing hope in our humanity.
