Although not Epic on the scale of Game of Thrones, it is the same world and universe a hundred years or earlier. Wonderful and fun characters to follow and enjoy.

Abercrombie mastery with Pacey excellence.

I find Abercrombie to be a masterful writer. And Steven Pacey and absolutely masterful narrator, in my opinion there's none better. The combination of these two in any project means only one thing, pure excellence.

Adults who loves fantasy, skip this book.

If you are new to the fantasy genre, this is a cute, fun world. The narrator needs to work on her accents/dialects but is otherwise fine. But if you are an Adult who loves fantasy, skip this book. You will find no new ideas or surprises here.

I can't get through this book. The reader reads it as if it's poetry... not a story... it's mind numbing...

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Different reader.

Would you be willing to try another one of James Patrick Cronin’s performances?

Hell no.

What would have made Raven's Breath better?

Not that it's bad, I just think your average guy isn't going to enjoy this. Because... it's not written for guys.

What was most disappointing about Tish Thawer’s story?

Best enjoyed by women, I would guess.

This is more DC than Marvel.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People that enjoy DC comics over Marvel comics (you know who you are). Or people who like superhero stories but aren't hardcore comic/superhero fans.

Would you ever listen to anything by Brandon Sanderson again?

I've done Mistborn and now Steelheart. I (as a guy who loves a good fantasy novel (i.e. Game of Thrones or The Blade Itself) I can't say that I like Sanderson's style. It's too soft for my taste. It seems as if it doesn't have teeth. It's like watching a great action movie with the sound off...

Which scene was your favorite?

The small comical bits of this book are my favorite. Especially the Cody character.

What character would you cut from Steelheart?

Steelheart. He's so 2 dimensional, why do I even care?

On top of mostly shallow characters, you come into this story supposedly having to hate the "Epics" (the superhero "villans") As all people with superpowers are supposedly "Bad guys." And our hero wants to kill them all... to me.. our hero is a psycho nut job. Good concept that wasn't fleshed out enough to want me go on the ride with him. Just seems childish and petulant.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Blade Itself to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version, but I am very much enjoying The Blade Itself. The characters are lovable (some in spite of themselves) and although I haven't read the other books. This is a solid set up and starting point. Hard to put down.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There are several wonderful characters in the book, and I am a little embarrased to say that I enjoy spending time with Glokter of the Inquisition. As well as Logon 9 Fingers and Bias!

What does Steven Pacey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Steven Pacey read of this book is absolutley amazing. Clean clear characters and fascinating dialects and characterizational speech impediments really lend wonderful color to each and every character in the book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definatley, although it was far to long to do so.

Absolutely wonderful book, left me grabbing for the next in the series and has also made me a Steven Pacey fan, as well!

What made the experience of listening to Furies of Calderon the most enjoyable?

This writer is brilliant as is the reader. This series, at least up until this point has been an absolute pleasure to read and enjoy.

What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hands down Kate Reading (aptly named) is one of the most talented and incredible readers out there. Nuff said.
