Maybe it's my fault for coming off my English major and deciding to dip my toe into fantasy romance with spicy scenes, but this was unbearable.

This whole rpg element was unnecessary and drew me out of the book. It made no sense and added nothing to the story. Adding this, on top of deciphering characters' decisions, made it impossible, as the characters were already unbelievable and scripted as if it were an anime.

I might have liked this as a weeb teenager, but this sounds like an anime/hentai. Maybe it's jarring for me because if I wanted a hentai, I'd look online and not see it in the form of literature.

nothing significant at least. this book was really dry and the style was just too out there. i get it, you broke norms wolf. but its not an easy read and i got no pleasure from reading this

contemporary romantic period magic!

Read if your a fan of the romantic period. its a wonderful take on history during the early 19th century as if magic were to be restored to england.

This is the best story I've ever heard.

I tried to listen to the other Frankenstein audiobook on here, the one with a fancy cover ( you know the one). That one was a little more expensive. It was god awfull. They gave the creature a sad melancholic voice.

In this version, the voices are spot on, and all the characters are brought to life. If you want to enjoy Frankenstein fully, get this version!

Creature was too Melancholic

I've heard another person perform this story and I understand this is the revised edition, but the text of the creature is relatively the same but the person performing it made it sound so sad and melancholic that it wasn't as frightening as all the characters were making it out to be. The creature should be growling, a low baritone; Not some romantic whose wailing is just annoying to listen to.

A perfect combo for narrator and story

I've heard Simon Vance in another audiobook and I couldn't tell if it was the story or the narrators delivery. turns out it was the story because this performance of The Time Machine was really enjoyable with this narrator.

Twain's Best Work

this is the third book I've read from twain and it is my favorite out of all of them. I grabbed the book because of the title hoping it was as it claims: and so it was! A fantastic fish out of water story and very intelligently written. I laughed and awed all the way to the end.

the performance ruins this story

I switched between kindle and this while going through the story but the guys voice was hard to get through. I've listened to other people reading Dumas works and they were more cut for doing it than Frederick was. there were points that it sounded like he held his nose to produce a different voice and it was like nails on a chalkboard. also read slow and paused a lot making this recording much longer than it needed to be.

Now it may be that I'm a contemporary reader, but I'm not a stranger to Dickenson. I've read the well known Christmas Carol and Great expectations. both were easy to follow, but this one, not so much. I know classic literature is hard to read for us contemporary readers, but this was a really difficult struggle to finish and follow along. I think a big issue with this one is there are too many characters and it drove me nuts to keep track.
