Great story, terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-04-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would only recommend this book for a friend if it was narrated by someone else. The narrator kept switching voices he used for the different characters, which made following some of the dialogue very confusing. The story itself was great!
How could the performance have been better?
The performance would have been better if the narrator consistently used the same voice for each character. He would use one tone of voice for a certain character, only to then use it for a different character later in the book, and change the voice of the original character. I almost stopped listening to this story because the narrator was awful. However, the story itself is great, and I'm glad that I made it all the way through.
Any additional comments?
It may be better to just read this book unless you can find it narrated by someone else.

Historia
The last thing Boston Detective D. D. Warren remembers is walking the crime scene after dark. Then, a creaking floorboard, a low voice crooning in her ear… She is later told she managed to discharge her weapon three times. All she knows is that she is seriously injured, unable to move her left arm, unable to return to work. My sister is Shana Day, a notorious murderer who first killed at fourteen. Incarcerated for thirty years, she has now murdered more people while in prison than she did as a free woman.

Revisado: 01-24-14
Where does Fear Nothing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This story was excellent and in keeping with all of the previous Detective D.D. Warren novels.
Any additional comments?
I enjoy this book series because you become familiar with the main characters, and there is a continuing storyline among them throughout. However, you could also read each novel as a stand alone, but I would recommend reading the other D.D. Warren novels first. I find it interesting that even though D.D. is in every novel, the story is always from a different character's point of view.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this to anyone who likes futuristic books about dystopian societies. The storyline is intriguing and easily captures and keeps the listener's attention. However, this is a young adult novel, and includes a lot of awkward teenage sexual tension, which is the only thing I did not like about it. If you can get past that, the story itself is excellent.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No, I didn't even finish the book because it could not keep my attention. My husband and I like to listen to audiobooks on long roadtrips, and we just could not listen to this one for very long before deciding it is awful.

Amazing!
Revisado: 10-02-13
What did you love best about The King of Plagues?
The story is great, and the narrator is phenomenal. He really makes the characters come to life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Joe Ledger of course! He is a bad-ass, sarcastic, and brutally honest.
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, Ray is awesome, and I don't think the Joe Ledger series would be the same narrated by someone else.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I listened to this book during my commute to and from work, and I found myself sitting in my car after parking as long as possible to continue listening!
Any additional comments?
You must listen to the first two books before this one to completely understand all of the characters.

Revisado: 09-11-13
If you could sum up The Bone Garden in three words, what would they be?
an exciting ride
What does Susan Denaker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator was great; I loved how she used different voices for each of the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This story constantly held my attention, and the story continues to get better throughout as you learn more scandalous details. The ending was perfect because the whole story comes full circle. Some parts did make me cringe because there are many gory details, but they only added to the overall emotion of the book.

The "maddog" murderer who is terrorizing the Twin Cities is two things: insane and extremely intelligent. He kills for the pleasure of it and thoroughly enjoys placing elaborate obstacles to keep police befuddled. Each clever move he makes is another point of pride. But when the brilliant Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, a dedicated cop and a serial killer's worst nightmare, is brought in to take up the investigation, the maddog suddenly has an adversary worthy of his genius.

Grossed me out, couldn't finish the book
Revisado: 08-21-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story itself bugged me. I'm really not interested in hearing stories about rape, child abuse, etc. If this kind of thing doesn't bother you, then you would probably enjoy the rest of the story line.

This is probably my favorite non-fiction audiobook so far.
What did you like best about this story?
The content is very relevant to our lives and is pretty up to date on modern biotechnology. The beginning had a great review of genetics before jumping into the biotechnology lectures.

A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti.
