Received this book as a gift from Jamie when she was at the Tamron Hall Show. I would have never purchased it because I have enough self help books. However it is one that I am grateful I was gifted. I resonated with lots of it and I am forever changed because of it. Thanks Jamie!

Historia
Who would imagine being friends with Eve - the woman who’s been held responsible for the fall of humanity (and cramps) for thousands of years? Certainly not Sarah Jakes Roberts. That is, not until Sarah discovered she is more like Eve than she cares to admit. Everyone faces trials, and everyone will mess up. But failure should not be the focus. Your focus should not be on who you were but rather the pursuit of who you can become.

This book was recommended and it did not disappoint. I chuckled a bit. I reflected a lot. Most importantly, I learned and was encouraged to continue to evolve no matter what place I was at in my life. I couldn’t stopped listening. I recommend this to all women. Although author is young, she’s blessed with nuggets that she happily shares. Buy. Listen. Learn. Evolve.

Historia
Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

Absolutely love reading her story
Revisado: 02-23-21
I’m so grateful that we are able to hear/read her story and that we are left with her voice, her legacy. She worked for all that she achieved and continually thanked God for breathing her way....which I was glad to hear. It told me how humbled she remained in an industry where one can lose themselves. I encourage all to read, to learn, to hear and to have the light she shone, shine your way. Rest in power Ms Tyson. Well done ❤️

Historia
Tommy J. Curry’s provocative audiobook The Man-Not is a justification for Black male studies. He posits that we should conceptualize the Black male as a victim oppressed by his sex. The Man-Not, therefore, is a corrective of sorts, offering a concept of Black males that could challenge the existing accounts of Black men and boys desiring the power of white men who oppress them that has been proliferated throughout academic research across disciplines.

Great Informative Book
Revisado: 05-06-20
This book is a must read/listen. It’s our history. It’s our today. It requires reflection and it requires change. We can’t keep letting fear/greed/control/fear/power dictate the mistreatment of people. At the end of the day, we are all humans and should be treated as such. There’s enough for all.

I honestly don’t think I would’ve appreciated your story as much, if I picked up the book to read. To hear your story, while I worked out. To hear the conversation in between chapters/stories added so much value to this book and your journey. I loved every minute of it and have reached out to others to be inspired. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, I loved the ending. I too want to exceed Gods expectations.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Loved the candid and real conversation!!!
Revisado: 08-28-18
I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. I had an idea based on the summary and reviews but still, how would the author speak her truth and how much truth would it be. Well, for me, it was enough to keep me engaged throughout it all. I couldn’t stop listening. I wouldn’t stop listening. Finally a white person, addressing white people, on the the reality of race. It does exist. You do play a role. Having a black friend does not eliminate you. White fragility exists. I have recommended this book to a few people already and will continue to do so.
Thanks Robin for your honesty.
