How in the lack of continuity did this get published—even as an audiobook
Revisado: 02-15-24
Lack on consistency throughout the story. I have had the misfortune of listening to all the books in this series. Yes. All the way through. The writing is extremely inconsistent. Instead of developing, the characters get flatter and more immature. On top of this, the narrator often mispronounces words and does terrible accents that don’t even fit the character’s country of origin. The audio tracks are sometimes out of order and repeated. What an absolute mess of a mediocre story.

Historia
Bolivian-Argentinian Inez Olivera belongs to the glittering upper society of nineteenth century Buenos Aires, and like the rest of the world, the town is steeped in old world magic that’s been largely left behind or forgotten. Inez has everything a girl might want, except for the one thing she yearns the most: her globetrotting parents—who frequently leave her behind.

I just wasted 16 hours of my life
Revisado: 11-07-23
Innez is not spunky. She is very naive and stupid.
The story is an inch deep and a mile wide. The disorganized story, or even lack of story is both frustrating and disappointing. The characters don’t develop.
I can’t even count this as a guilty pleasure book. I pushed through to the end hoping that my spent time wouldn’t have been in vain. Alas, it was in vain. Should have quit a few chapters into the book.
It’s a shame, because the idea of this book could have been great. Not only did it miss the mark, but it also fell miles short of the target.

Historia
The events of Jive take place in a not-too-distant future where things have gone from bad to worse. After the pandemics (and yes, there will be more) came the Bloom, an invasion that arrived in a way that no one could have predicted. It was a genetic invasion, the ancient alien hidden in our DNA “blooming”, an event that killed a third of the world population (that’s over one billion) and mutated a third into something slightly “more” than human. They were a daunting presence - and they were in charge.

Delightful Story in a Nutshell
Revisado: 07-17-21
Loved the addition to Junk! Although, it stands on it’s own two feet apart from Junk. It’s a concentrated, complete story on it’s own. Interesting and captivating.
Also, please write more like Junk :) it was fantastic

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

A Suprise of Delight
Revisado: 05-22-19
Weird and Strange. At first, you don't know how all the weird, strangeness ties together. Then, WAM-OH! It all begins to make sense. The performance was a delight! It was a great concept, and I think I was executed artfully. Thanks Bohem and Waters and everyone else involved. What a Surprise of Delight you all worked hard to deliver.
NOTE: It will go over the un-cultured's head. If you don't have a tentative grasp on mythology, religion, science, and/or conspiracy theories, then you probably will neither understand nor enjoy this book. Still, I'd encourage you to give it a chance.

Bored Narrator Made It a Struggle
Revisado: 05-14-19
I would have gotten more into the story if the narrator did.
Anna Fields, the narrator, sounds so bored and monotone during most of this book.
I will never listen to another book narrated by her, again.
The story itself was pretty good. It's an interesting concept.
Glad the story didn't let me down as I struggled through the narration.

Unimpressive, Depressing, Long
Revisado: 05-08-19
This unimpressive audible book was both depressing, long, and boring. It wasn’t a massive train wreck, but a lukewarm story.

Most Excellent
Revisado: 04-09-19
A most excellent read of a beautiful, messed-up, regular, but also somewhat elevated, artfully-curated collection of anecdotes by David Spade.
This was the first book of his I “read” and since finishing this one, I’m inclined to purchase another.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but it didn’t disappoint. Shout out to Spade, who courageously and amusingly shared from his life experiences.
