Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Historia
Academics, journalists, and popular historians agree: our greatest presidents are the ones who confronted a national crisis and mobilized the entire nation to face it. That’s the conventional wisdom. The chief executives who are celebrated in textbooks and placed in the top echelon of presidents in surveys of experts are the bold leaders - the Woodrow Wilsons and Franklin Roosevelts - who reshaped the United States in line with their grand “vision” for America. Unfortunately, along the way, these “great” presidents inevitably expanded government - and shrank our liberties.

Right wing complaints with a side of "history"
Revisado: 10-23-24
Bush launches invasion of foreign country = very constitutional 👍
Obama launches raid to kill or capture OBL = so unconstitutional. Big bad!
History should be told objectively. This is not it.

It's Carl Sagan
Revisado: 06-07-24
Not enough praise can be heaped onto Dr. Sagan's dedication to sciense and scientific literacy for the masses. This book ages extremely well. Cannot wait for my next re-read.

Performances were spectacular
Revisado: 02-09-24
So, so dated. This screams middle of the 20th century in the worst ways.
The performances were enjoyable, even if the content wasn't.

Entertaining
Revisado: 11-16-23
Thoroughly entertaining story and character.
Once again, the author shows us the history of Elan, and it is rewarding to see—with Riyria in mind—the development of Elanese(?) society/culture.
Narration was superb.

Good story, bad accents.

I struggled to finish. Narrator's cholo accent is horrible; the narration itself was enjoyable
