Historia
Bradbury's Mars is a place of hope, dreams, and metaphor - of crystal pillars and fossil seas - where a fine dust settles on the great, empty cities of a silently destroyed civilization. It is here the invaders have come to despoil and commercialize, to grow and to learn - first a trickle, then a torrent, rushing from a world with no future toward a promise of tomorrow. The Earthman conquers Mars...and then is conquered by it, lulled by dangerous lies of comfort and familiarity, and enchanted by the lingering glamour of an ancient, mysterious native race.

DISJOINTED SCIENCE FICTION.
Revisado: 10-30-24
This has been on my "To read" list for years and I was really looking forward to it. What a tremendous disappointment.
I can not imagine how this could have become a "Classic" I kept reading until the end hoping something would come together and make sense. Was Bradbury attempting to illustrate the weakness of the human race? His sci-fi did not even make sense. One pragmatist hides a "Family rocket" that will take him and his family to Mars. Really?
I think folks who rate this high have never read good literature.

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

My last Daniel Silva novel
Revisado: 08-10-24
I have read most of the Gabriel Allon series and have enjoyed them very much including The Cellist until the somewhat veiled attack on the 45th President of our country. One may use the disclaimer in the authors note for legal reasons but it is glaringly apparent that Silva is a hard line Trump hater. His diatribe after the end is misleading, erroneous, and possibly libelous.
You are a writer of fiction and not a political commentator and you would do well to remember that. In addition, it seems to me, that a fiction writer with your proven ability would be able to conjure up a plot line that did not simply copy the misguided accusations of a biased political party that tried every way in the world to besmirch a great leader and are still at it.
You force me to take my leave of you Daniel Silva.

Historia
Leland Gaunt opens a new shop in Castle Rock called Needful Things. Anyone who enters his store finds the object of his or her lifelong dreams and desires: a prized baseball card, a healing amulet. In addition to a token payment, Gaunt requests that each person perform a little "deed", usually a seemingly innocent prank played on someone else from town. These practical jokes cascade out of control, and soon the entire town is doing battle with itself. Only Sheriff Alan Pangborn suspects that Gaunt is behind the population's increasingly violent behavior.

Revisado: 03-27-24
King has reached a new low. This story is so incredibly ridiculous and below his capability that only his name must be what got this published.
It's enough to make me swear off any future King books.

Good thing I didn't have to pay for this
Revisado: 01-30-24
The premise was not bad but the narrator was like he was reading the phone book. Many parts that did not fit together. The worst of it was that Russ had absolutely no reason to suspect Taylor had anything to do with the murder and abduction but it was like he had an epiphany when he got hit by the car. It was a very long 13 hours.

Ridiculous premise, and terrible presentation. The narrators voices were laughable and bush league. I would send this back if it were allowed.

Very hard to follow
Revisado: 01-03-24
The only thing that kept me listening to this was Simon Vance. I have loved the Lizbeth Salender novels from the start but Smirnoff's writing style made this one unbearable. Bouncing from one event or situation to another and or inserting presumably a voice from the past in someone's head with no foreshadowing made this a very unpleasant read.

The remote resort town of Fjällbacka has seen more than its share of tragedies, but a little girl found in a fisherman's net may be the worst yet - especially when the postmortem reveals that this was a methodical murder, not an accidental drowning. Local detective Patrik Hedstrom has just become a father, and it’s his grim task to discover who could have killed a child both he and his partner Erica knew well. He realizes that the solution lies with finding a motive for this terrible crime.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Typical Stephen King, twice as long as needed to tell a very good premise. In addition all the campaigning for covid and smoking did not do anything to enhance the experience.
The sing song presentation of the narrator was irritating.

Historia
In a seedy D.C. porno house a patron is swiftly garroted to death... The next day America learns that two of its Supreme Court justices have been assassinated. And in New Orleans, a young law student prepares a legal brief. To Darby Shaw it was no more than a legal shot in the dark, a brilliant guess. To the Washington establishment it was political dynamite. Suddenly, Darby is witness to a murder - a murder intended for her. Going underground, she finds there is only one person she can trust - an ambitious reporter after a news break hotter than Watergate.

Not a fan of Abridged
Revisado: 06-27-23
Too many holes in the abridged version to make this enjoyable. I had a huge question regarding the main premise. If the brief was already widely distributed, what was the point of killing all these people. The premise is faulty from the beginning.
