Old cottages on the lake
Revisado: 01-03-24
This book was fascinating. Told in a matter-of-fact style about an emotional happening at a cottage on a picturesque lake. The author blends the present with the past and then with detailed precision outlines the happenings of a murder from 1918 in a cottage in the woods of NH. The reader gets a view of the past and an understanding of the people and the place of Lake Ossipee. Suspenseful in a brilliant way that keeps the reader hooked.

A pot boiler
Revisado: 08-19-19
This book has a compelling plot and full bodied characters. All except the main character who slips up once in her sheltered life and then becomes the epitome of virtue and grace along with her too perfect doctor boyfriend. The story of 1940s New York and North Carolina is full of conflict and tragedy keeping the reader glued to the book as their pots boil over. Tess needed a little more gumption to be believed but overall a good story.

Historia
Jen Dixon is not your typical Kansas City kindergarten class mom - or mom in general. Jen already has two college-age daughters by two different (probably) musicians, and it's her second time around the class mom block with five-year-old Max - this time with a husband and father by her side. Though her best friend and PTA president sees her as the "wisest" candidate for the job (or oldest), not all of the other parents agree.

Fluff with a dash of humor
Revisado: 08-02-19
I liked the humor in this book. The emails were witty and smart. The plot and conflict were close to nonexistent, unless you consider having a personal trainer help you get ready for a mud run a problem. There was something that kept me listening and I would say the book was entertaining in a frivolous way. Laurie’s reading was easy to listen to.
