The purpose of reading is for entertainment, I assume; MCs doing all we the readers wish to do (taking down the bad guys) and not receiving lesson in magic. However, there were so many instances of the MCs not being able to do this or that, it was not entertaining to have the defeated attitudes voiced so emotionally all the time (it is not the narrator's fault), throughout the book.
And only one fight where they barely scraped through.

There is a lot of descriptions, and not enough martial arts action.

The protagonist always seems surprised by the degree of hostility of his opponents, and always comes short on his battle plan to the point of death; even though defied, death nevertheless.
I like the story, and the narration.

Still as good as ever

I am looking forward to more of the same. As a naturalized citizen,originally from a French colony,I can relate to that feeling of letdown when witnessing the shift in America’s spirit. Vince/Kyle’s writing rehabilitates my view. Keep up the good work.
