Historia
When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

For those who never gave up thinking that the world is enchanting
Revisado: 11-30-23
I grew up on stories that made me care about the wild world. This book is a song of love to my heart, even as an adult listening to it on my own. What I love most is that it teaches one how to actually look, not just to care. the narration is superb and the audio engineering transports you to tue very garden they talk about.

Historia
Cambridge professor Emily Wilde is good at many things: She is the foremost expert on the study of faeries. She is a genius scholar and a meticulous researcher who is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. But Emily Wilde is not good at people. She could never make small talk at a party—or even get invited to one. And she prefers the company of her books, her dog, Shadow, and the Fair Folk to other people. So when she arrives in the hardscrabble village of Hrafnsvik, Emily has no intention of befriending the gruff townsfolk.

absolutely delightful!
Revisado: 05-08-23
I am not overly found of books that delve deep into the politics of courtly fae... it feels just like royal drama but with **magic**
However, this novel is a wonderful balance of folksy fae folk with a little bit of court drama. The main character is NOT a chose one NOR is she a *not-like-other-girls* trope that is so commen in faerie books. Highly, HIGHLY recommend for a bit of whimsy and squeals.

Cecilia Bassingwaite is the ideal Victorian lady. She's also a thief. Like the other members of the Wisteria Society crime sorority, she flies around England drinking tea, blackmailing friends, and acquiring treasure by interesting means. Sure, she has a dark and traumatic past and an overbearing aunt, but all things considered, it's a pleasant existence. Until the men show up.

Don't believe the Haters.
Revisado: 10-15-22
Is this a book that will go down in history as the greatest of all time? No.
BUT! is it fun and engaging? ABSOLUTELY.
It is a well written Faerie story that makes no apologies for what it is. It is catered to a female audience but it is also well thought out, transports you to a beautiful world, and speaks honestly of the contradictions in human emotions.
Yes, the main character is a bit dense at times, but I loved the slow burn romance of it.
As long as you don't expect it to be a Tolkin or George RR Martin style story, it is lovely!

As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Gentle Revolutionary
Revisado: 04-19-21
This is one of my new favorites and has brought me a new foundation of how to interact with the world. It is so lish and rich with ideas and new understandings that I had to pause and digest often. The author reads it in the most soothing voice that almost lulls you into gentle rest while reframing ones understanding of the world. If you listen to one book, listen to this one.

Historia
Over the course of a 30-year career, Eddie Izzard has proven himself to be a creative chameleon, inhabiting the stage and film and television screens with an unbelievable fervor. Born in Yemen and raised in Ireland, Wales, and postwar England, he lost his mother at the age of six. In his teens he dropped out of university and took to the streets of London as part of a two-man escape act; when his partner went on vacation, Izzard kept busy by inventing a one-man act, and thus a career was ignited.

I have loved the comedy of Eddie Izzard for ages. This book opens a portal into his life that explains the journey and creation of the comedy I have come to adore. Additionally, there is extra commentary from Eddie in the real-time footnotes which are to die for.
