So depressing

The first half was so awful and depressing I’m not sure how I continued. It got better the second half and there was more humor and good things like in the first story. I can’t imagine anyone, let alone two people, can have that many awful people in their lives.

Three and half stars

Hated the beginning but so glad I stuck with it

The beginning of this book was really hard for me to get through, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. The beginning needed to be that way so we could see the growth and maturity in Callie. I really enjoyed this book and glad I listened to it.

Starts slow but gets better

The beginning was slow and frankly depressing, but it picked up and got interesting when you could see all the details coming together. I never did quite understand Nancy’s husband and he was never explained. At times Claire was awful to Blake and I struggled with liking her. I assume that was to show her growth. I wish we could have seen more of a gradual transition, because, except for God, I’m not sure why Blake stuck around for her. Overall a good listen and 3.5 stars.

Really enjoy this series

I have really enjoyed this series and getting to know the people of Butternut Creek. This one ended a bit more abruptly than I would have preferred. I sure wish there was a book 4.

A whole bunch of nothing

The end was so disappointing

I am struggling between 3 and 4 stars on this. Three quarters of the book kept me very interested in the mystery, but at some point it really started dragging with the same details and I found myself fast forwarding. I really thought there would be a twist at the end, but no. The end could not have been more depressing and disappointing. Honestly, it made no sense. As a detective, there are so many questions that still needed to be asked about the family's state of mind.........all of them. Every aspect of of this book, including the side stories had very, very disappointing conclusions. I really liked the book up until then. I couldn't believe the book was actually over after all the drawn out, minute details and then BANG, it was over. I am still stunned. I can't believe I invested so much into this story for that.
