Great narration and intriguing story
Revisado: 08-21-24
It took a bit to get into the story but once I understood the setting and who the main characters were, if was intriguing and kept me engaged throughout.

narration choppy, storyline unbelievable
Revisado: 06-29-23
The narration was so choppy with pauses In wrong places and stringing together the end of one sentence with the next. Several words were mispronounced as well. It was so hard to finish this one.

Not enough to the story
Revisado: 03-18-23
This was good in the beginning, but after escaping from the jungle the story was just lacking. there wasn't enough detail and background to support the remaining storyline. It fell short in my opinion.

Wonderful family story with whimsical elements
Revisado: 03-04-23
I loved the fairytale elements of the story it makes it lighter since this is a heavy topic here in the USA. I found myself tearing up throughout and joyful at the end. I found myself feeling more educated about the life and struggle of people with gender dysphoria.

Needs slower narration
Revisado: 02-06-23
#1 Con is that the narrator seems to think reading is a speed contest. She speaks too quickly, not pausing between sentences or changes in characters. Just can't get into the story or new characters and then it's over as this is a short book as compared to the rest of the series.
I'm glad book 8 changed to a different narrator than this one. I wish they'd redo this one as it's just horrible.

Then, in a matter of seconds, Brooke’s life is shattered when she’s carjacked. Helpless and terrified, all Brooke can do is watch as Etta, still strapped in her seat, disappears into the Los Angeles night. Miles away, Etta is found by Molly, a homeless teen who is all too used to darkness. Thrown away by her parents, and with a future as stable as the wooden crate she calls home, Molly survives day to day by her wits.

Thank goodness for the audiobook version. I would have had a difficult time reading this since I was tearing up for half the book.
