Historia
Magic is fading, and humanity is at the brink of extinction. Sybil lived and breathed the life of a miner, delving deep into monster-infested caverns and perilous shafts, risking her life to unearth Relics of an ancient past for food and shelter. That is until one day, she discovers a Relic that would change her fate from a simple miner to an Ascended—a Relic that connected her to the magic that was once lost.

A bit on the long side
Revisado: 02-13-25
I liked most of this book, the concept is interesting, decriptions and character are mostly good. Some might love this s lot, but for me there was a few negatives. The main character has too struggle (it's key to the story), but it's very repetative, and used to much time on, in my opinion. Life or death situations are cool, but can be overdone. lastly, the author goes out of the way to tell us, the reader, how bad each soon to be dead guard is, but the main character don't know this. She just kills them, even when they surrender. It seems extreme since we don't feel her hate at all.

Hard to stay engaged
Revisado: 02-13-25
I liked a lot with this book, but found it hard to stay engaged. It's a challange writing a god lvl OP character as the main character. This is componded by the main character being a bit of a loner.

Turning monsterous
Revisado: 11-08-24
I didn't read this book to the end. The main character turned into too much of a monster for my liking. Making characters gray and fallible is great for a good story. But it requires the character actually feel remorse from their mistakes, not just plow though (there is writing about remorse, but it don't feel real / deepfelt). Why should I roote for her when she becomes no better than those she hunts. I might be to soft idk. First book was better at finding a balance in my opinion.

"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

A really slow burner
Revisado: 11-25-23
Lowell is a master of dialogue, and this comes out as one of the big qualities of this book. It's very nice to meet old characters again, get a reminder of all that made them extraordinary, and get to know them even better. The story concept is a bit shaky but interesting and promises a lot of interpersonal plots and subplots in the books to come.
But, this book is a very slow burner, where Lowell most often covers a year or more per book. This book only covers about a week (for 90% of the book). Divided by 9 hours of playtime and the viewpoint of a single person, it's inevitably repetitive, and the buildup and resolution levels normally associated with a novel are very low. In that sense, it's almost like a very long prologue and not a separate novel.
This might be the start of a banger of a series, but alone is a bit lacking. There is a whole developed universe to play with, but the story limits itself to a week of time, primarily alternating between meetings on a ship, at the station, or at different restaurants. Lowell has my trust, and I'm looking forward to reading his next book in this series. I hope it won't be too long to wait.

Historia
The unmissable conclusion to the science fiction series that has it all—ancient aliens, rogue AIs, beleaguered royalty, semi-repentant pirates, and the chance to go where no humans have gone before (well, not for five hundred years)—all wrapped up in the possibility of a happy-ever-after for everyone (bad guys excluded).

Clan simulator 3000
Revisado: 09-18-23
I liked the first books a lot. The mix of action, world building and inter character content worked well for me. sadly these last books (and espesially this) is almost only inter character soap.
It also seems a bit unlikely that all these external people would just fit in the clan, it seems a bit unlikely. These people have lived in a harse world where politics is everything, why would they trust Nora just like that? What has she done to solidify that trust? Nora is a cool character, but unlike in the first books, a lot of her human characteristics like doubt, drive, anger and stubornness is lacking in this book. Not so good when so much of the book is soap, and the main character of the soap is lacking in substance.
This might be right down your ally, if so, good for you. But the content mixture has changed to much for me. so this will be my last book of this series.

How can he best serve his realm?

Mostly a good book
Revisado: 03-13-23
Overall it's a good book and nice continuation of the series. Only thing I would like to mention is that it seems a bit unpolished compared to book 1 and 2. The narration is solid.

cool story

A cool story set in a vibrent world. The story pacing seemed a bit off at times, for instance when it comes to how fast bonding happens between crew. Solid narratation.

Interesting world and characters
Revisado: 05-06-21
A lot to like in this book. Good descriptions, plot and characters. It's a bit short and doesn't really have a complete arc, but it builds up nicely towards the next book.
