Historia
Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett faces two different kinds of raging beasts—one animal, one human—in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C. J. Box. A rogue grizzly bear has gone on a rampage—killing, among others, the potential fiancé of Joe’s daughter. At the same time, Dallas Cates, whom Joe helped lock up years ago, is released from prison with a special list tattooed on his skin. He wants revenge on the people who sent him away: the six people he blames for the deaths of his entire family and the loss of his reputation and property.

Another gripping Joe Picket book
Revisado: 03-15-24
This story is so well written. I wanted to keep reading it, but so terrifying that I wanted to put it down. CJBox won, and I finished the story. I’m glad I did. Keep it up CJBoz. You terrify and fascinate me from only one state away.

This is the life story of vet Peter Wright, charting his working relationship with the famous 'James Herriot', from work experience with him as a lad, to taking over his practice in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Covering his bucolic childhood growing up on a farm right through to the heady days of his successful Channel 5 TV series, Peter's warm nature and professional attitude shine through.

Truth is Better Than Fiction
Revisado: 03-18-21
I grew up reading and re-reading all the Herriot books. The original All Creatures was fairly true to the original books, but the new All Creatures takes liberties with the stories and characters that are disconcerting and disappointing. The Yorkshire Vet is back to facts. I love it. I’ll have to go watch The Yorkshire Vet series and see all the action hinted at in this book. Thank you, Peter Wright! And thank you, Christopher Timothy, for your great narration.

Historia
No one could ask for a better present than a collection of Connie Willis Christmas tales. These are amazing stories, representing all the best of the Connie Willis experience: true Christmas gifts to her many fans. They are full of humor, absurdity, human foibles, tragedy, joy, and hope. They both send up and embrace many of the best Christmas traditions, such as the Christmas newsletter, Secret Santas, office parties, holiday pageants, and Christmas dinners (both elaborate and spare).

I love these Christmas stories!
Revisado: 02-12-20
They are all delightful! Not too sappy, or too predictable. Engaging and funny, and thoughtful, and with a message about Christmas in every one. Even the space invaders fit into the collection perfectly.
They are performed well, too. (Can’t forget the wonderful people who read them to me!)
My new comfort Christmas collection, to be read at any time of the year.

Much cheering!
Revisado: 01-24-20
I related so much to the main character (don’t know why, as I’m not an orphan) that I found myself cheering her on—out loud—several times during the story! I don’t do that!
Great characters, great story, great setting.

Abusive husbands, child molesters, and other lowlifes wound up looking like they'd been mauled by a dog...or a wolf. Now Sam's a low-rent PI in Philadelphia. He takes the kinds of cases no one wants. His clients are usually on the fringes of society. The kind who are prey for all manner of predators - human and otherwise.

Historia
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

Comfort Read
Revisado: 09-01-16
This is one of my all-time favorites! The narrator did an exceptional job with the accents, and was very clear. I guess he could have paused a little longer between parts of conversation, just so I'd know there was a change of person, but I was able to follow it all. The characters were excellently developed, and the story is full of surprising twists.

Amazing story, amazing performance
Revisado: 10-11-15
Connie Willis is an excellent storyteller. Her characters are distinct and interesting and believable and human. I love these characters and I love the story of both Blackout and All Clear. Connie Willis obviously did incredible amounts of research before writing this. It makes you feel as if you had experienced the Blitz first-hand.

Historia
In this Hugo-winner from Connie Willis, when too many jumps back to 1940 leave 21st century Oxford history student Ned Henry exhausted, a relaxing trip to Victorian England seems the perfect solution. But complexities like recalcitrant rowboats, missing cats, and love at first sight make Ned's holiday anything but restful - to say nothing of the way hideous pieces of Victorian art can jeopardize the entire course of history.

Top 5 pick
Revisado: 06-10-15
One of my top 5 favorite books.
The characters are excellent and real. The plot is riveting. Plenty of (well-researched) history. Delightful sense of humor throughout. The descriptions of the scenes are vivid and realistic, sometimes referring you **forward** to later periods of history. (It will make sense when you read it. I promise.) You also get a good idea of Victorian norms. #Victorian #Funny #RuralGreatBritain #TimeTravel #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

A Normal Apartment Building. Or Is It?
Revisado: 09-25-12
If you could sum up 14 in three words, what would they be?
Deceptive. Exciting. Challenging.
What other book might you compare 14 to and why?
I can't compare 14 to any other book I've ever read, but it seems very like many Dr. Who episodes I've seen over the years. Everything seems normal. Quirks can be explained away rationally. Then something happens, and suddenly nothing makes sense.
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've never heard any of Ray Porter's performances, but I'd listen to another one, given the opportunity.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I could not believe the twists and turns the plot took!
