Historia
An unnamed narrator pieces together the story of an area known by the locals as the "blasted heath" in the wild hills west of Arkham, Massachusetts. The narrator discovers that many years ago, a meteorite crashed there, poisoning every living being nearby. Vegetation grows large but foul-tasting, animals are driven mad and deformed into grotesque shapes, and the people go insane or die, one by one.

Sucks you in!
Revisado: 10-12-20
This was a fairly short story as audio books go, but what a ride it was. This one sucks you in early and doesn't let go until the end. The thing I will remember is the impending sense of dread I felt as I listened to this story. This listen was made all the better because it is a Horrorbabble presentation. As always, a superb narration by Ian Gordon. If you enjoy Cosmic Horror, or if you just enjoy Horrorbabble, I believe you should give this one a try.

Carnacki, occult detective
Revisado: 01-27-20
This is a series of six stories by William Hope Hodgson. The stories relate the tales of Detective Carnacki who investigates mysteries of the occult. This book is expertly narrated by Ian Gordon and I loved each of them. If you are a fan of Kolchak: The NIght Stalker, then I'm pretty sure you will enjoy these. None of the stories are a long listen so you can devour this all at once or take it in bite-size chunks.

Super suspenseful tale for a winter's evening.
Revisado: 12-02-19
Ian Gordon is the perfect narrator for a tale such as this. This isn’t so much horror as it is a tale of the weird. It is a strange tale indeed, and ideal for the holiday season. The narrator of the tale is doing so by reading pages of a journal that he found secreted away after his father had passed away. Each day of the journal relates a series of uncanny events which have began happening in the village and intertwines these happenings with history and lore of the past to create an atmosphere of suspense that slowly builds until the culmination of the story. I found myself thinking ahead about what was going to happen next. As much as I thought I knew what was going to happen I must admit I didn’t really and was both surprised and satisfied with the outcome. This is another great addition to the Horrorbabble series. Mr. Gordon has quickly become one of my favorite narrators and has proven an equal skill in his writing and story telling abilities. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful tale with great narration. I’m sure I will listen to this again and again especially around the holidays. This is a short story (just under 2 hours) and a perfect tale for a cold winter’s evening.

Another terrific collection from Horrorbabble
Revisado: 11-07-19
Horrorbabble has done it again. These stories are every bit as good as those in the first volume. This collection of 40 stories will carry you to an eclectic group of locations around the world with a variety of subjects and storylines. They are written by a "Who's Who" list of authors sure to please everyone. Some of the more popular authors included are Saki, Poe, Bierce, Benson, Lovecraft, James, Blackwood, and Nisbet. Many of these stories I had read before, there were a few I had not, but that were still very enjoyable. I love the way this audiobook is presented as most chapters are one chapter in length which makes it much easier for me to navigate. Ian Gordon is the perfect narrator for stories of this type. His readings hold your attention and are a delight to listen to. I highly recommend the purchase of this collection, and if you are new to Horrorbabble I strongly suggest you give them a try. I'm glad I discovered them.

Glad I got the audio version
Revisado: 07-07-19
This book is an anthology of mostly, but not all, older horror stories. Many of the top names of horror make appearances. There is indeed a wide variety of stories contained in this volume. I enjoyed them all, but my favorite was Notebook Found In a Deserted House. As much as I would have enjoyed reading these stories, they were even better as narrated in this book. I am becoming a Horrorbabble fan and a huge fan of Ian Gordon. His voice and style of reading make this an excellent listen. This is one of the better horror audio books I have found and I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the older style of horror.

A must listen
Revisado: 11-30-18
This is by far the best rendition of A Christmas Carol I have heard. Excellent narration and superb dramatization. Most everyone has read the story, but this dramatization brings it to life. One will feel as if they are actually there and experiencing the action as it happens. So glad I gave this one a listen.
