Few men can say they have known Africa as Capstick has known itleading safaris through lion country; tracking man-eating leopards along tangled jungle paths; running for cover as fear-maddened elephants stampede in all directions. And of the few who have known this dangerous way of life, fewer still can recount their adventures with the flair of this former professional hunter-turned-writer.

Riveting, Raw, and Wild
Revisado: 08-16-24
Story after story of Africa and its often successful attempts to kill. Danger so dense that the odds aren’t quite in your favor and that locals have an attitude of near apathy at futility of resistance. If even half of these stories are half true, you could make mere survival in the wilds of this continent your personal Everest and not leave much to be desired in raw tenacious bravery… or maybe stupidity. Either way, this book is well worth the listen.

Historia
From June 1967 to June 1968, Tom Johnson accumulated an astonishing 1,600 flying hours piloting the UH-1 "Iroquois" - better known as the "Huey" - as part of the famous First Air Cavalry Division. His battalion was one of the most decorated units of the Vietnam War, and helped redefine modern warfare. Johnson's riveting memoir takes us into key battles and rescue missions, including those for Hue and Khe Sanh. In harrowing detail, he tells of being shot down in the battle of A Shau Valley, of surviving enemy attacks during the Tet Offensive, and of a death-defying nighttime river rescue.

Phenomenal
Revisado: 07-06-23
Captures the Vietnam Huey war in a way that leaves you hoping for the author’s survival against ridiculous odds. You begin to feel as if you know Tom Johnson as he reveals many mistakes and faux pas that could have easily been skipped over. His dry wit comes through time and again in this memorable tale. This book somehow conveys its entire narrative on a painful subject without leaving the taint of bitter regret many Vietnam books are want to leave. I highly recommend this book. As an aside, I would say this is a PG13 rated book.

Intriguing
Revisado: 02-15-23
I am not a political junky or a history buff, so as such, I found the life of the man called Bibi to be simply fascinating. So many historically pivotal events were lived through and influenced by this man and his family. Before reading this, I had no idea how the politics of Israel were conducted. This book is very insightful as to how the government of Israel is run. Very well written and a great defense of all stands taken.
This book is long and many I’ve spoken to have spoken of listening fatigue as the political life of Bibi goes on and on. Might I suggest, 1.4x speed? This may be slightly irritating at first, but since your listening to political situations, you may find it amusing to imagine you’re listening to Ben Shapiro. This will cut down considerably on listening time. Subtracting roughly 7hr.

This book was purchased based on a Ted talk and a personal recommendation. The theory in this book is very intuitive, yet elusive. Starting with why, is brilliantly explained and illustrated from many different examples, which may be easily grasped. Historia
On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

In Age of Myth, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan launched audiences on an epic journey of magic and adventure, heroism and betrayal, love and loss. Now the thrilling saga continues as the human uprising is threatened by powerful enemies from without—and bitter rivalries from within. Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but long-standing enmities dividing the Rhunes make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods?

Captivating read.
Revisado: 07-27-17
This book might be said to lack the astounding originality we have come to expect of Michael J. Sullivan. But, when realizing the perimeters within which this book must be contained, there is a grace with which Sullivan caresses familiar story lines with new and enchanting characters. There were some points in this story when it was easier than usual to take a break, but overall Sullivan was his usual captivating self. Roan was one character I feel might be overwrought but she feels like a savant. Since I have never met one, perhaps they are that amazing and I am just out there. Overall though, very good story.

Splendid narration on a splendid story
Revisado: 07-12-16
This classic story by Charles Dickens is brought so to life in this wonderful narration, that, if it be possible, the show is stolen quite away from Dickens. Each character comes to life in a heretofore unattained manner, I am sure. One could quite forget in which era they were born, while enraptured in this tale, that places you squarely in a world which possesses a richness of language quite lost in the past. This save in the storied mind of a man long dead, yet living on the pages of many of the most classic of literary wonders.
