Historia
It all started with a bet. When my young son inherited half of his great grandfather’s historic inn, I decided to move us both to the place where I grew up. Notice I said half of the Inn. The other half now belonged to Levi Miller, the famous quarterback who had other ideas about what we should do with the property. We won’t mention that I accidentally injured him during our first meeting, causing him to get eight stitches. You could say we got off on the wrong foot. We bickered a lot as we both moved into the property while we figured things out.

Really? This is STILL a taboo?
Revisado: 02-18-25
This story kind of pissed me off, but I stuck with it. Maybe I am too rabid of a feminist to put up with the BS tropes so prevalent in contemporary romance. I am SO over the “you can’t be with your ex’s sibling” trope. Why not? The relationship is over. You’re both consenting adults, so what is the problem? The relationship in the story had been over for SIX YEARS, and the father is absent. Again: what is the problem? Also: you do NOT owe your allegiance to a toxic family member. The saying “blood is thicker than water” is idiotic at best. Another thing: children are not as fragile and clueless as adults think they are; give them some credit. This “sacrificing personal happiness for the sake of the children” is unhealthy and damaging in the long run.
Romance authors, please stop. How about writing female main characters who learn to say “f*** politeness”, and to say “no” to the overbearing people in their lives and putting everyone else’s comfort above their own? That is hot.

Historia
The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

Shame on this author
Revisado: 08-28-23
I tried. I made it almost halfway. This book is not merely problematic; it reads like an incel’s smut fantasy. The main female character is an idiot with the common sense and logic of a vegetable. The main male character saves sex trafficking victims by day, and humiliates and sexually abuses his stalking victim by night? Hypocrite much? I think the world needs to move past it being “romantic” and acceptable to degrade women for titillation. I expected better from female authors.
To make this even more excruciating is the male voice actor, who talks like a film noir private dick. My ears are still bleeding.

Historia
A self-proclaimed skeptic, the food writer dismissed rumors of a mischievous resident poltergeist named Lucy when he moved in, but he quickly found himself at a loss to explain the disembodied footsteps and mysterious odors that seemed to plague the old house. Soon, he was talking to neighbors and fellow homeowners, and it seemed that everyone had stories of strange events and supernatural occurrences in their own dwellings. As a result, David set out to document and research these reports...

Good story, narration is not a good fit.
Revisado: 07-21-20
I enjoyed the book, however the narration is not only very flat and monotone, but at 1x speed seems way too fast. I turned it down to .9x and was more comfortable in my listening. Still, there are times when the narration makes it feel like I'm listening to a textbook.
