Mmmhhh
Revisado: 07-27-22
Not great. It had an interesting open. Then, the first wife began almost immediately with racism. Accusing her husband and others of judging her for being half African American. it was weird and unnecessary. Why bring that decisive element? I just skipped her parts after that. It just stereotyped everyone. Skipped to the end and it was predictable and a pretty unbelievable. I wouldn't really recommend this. The narration was the best part.

Against his better judgment, he agrees to examine Lord Edward’s corpse.

This is a pretty good period mystery. Simon Vance was a wonderful narrator. My only issue is that the resolution was very drawn out and convoluted. Not a bad journey getting there, just became far fetched.

Historia
Erin Coleridge's used bookstore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England, is a meeting place for the villagers and, in particular, for the local Jane Austen Society. At the Society's monthly meeting, matters come to a head between the old guard and its young turks. After the meeting breaks for tea, persuasion gives way to murder with extreme prejudice when president Sylvia Pemberthy falls dead to the floor. Poisoned? Presumably, but by whom? And was Sylvia the only target?

Cute story. I don't love this narrator. Her accent is strange, like an American trying to sound British. Very cute characters and the romantic tension was good.

This story was pure fun. Each character was likeable, even the "bad" characters were not overly wicked. The story moved quickly and I was sad it was over. Hopefully all of her books will be this good.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 09-19-21
This story had quite a bit of exaggeration and assumption. The worst part was the narration! Just terrible. She made the children sound evil, the accused sound like crones and the non dialog narration sounded like she was trying to be seductive. Ruined the book.
