Fight is the backstage story of bloodsport politics in its rawest form—the clawing, backstabbing, and rabble-rousing that drove Donald Trump into the White House and Democrats into the wilderness. At every turn, the combatants went for the jugular, whether they were facing down rivals in the other party or their own.

Well Written, but a bit cliche
Revisado: 04-21-25
If you were alive and paying attention during the 2024 Presidential Election in America--you've already "read" the book. The authors are fair, write clearly, and the book is a good read. But there was nothing new, nothing surprising. Likely, it is a bit too soon for a deep analysis of the 2024 election. So, I was a bit disappointed. Great narration, by the way.

A disastrous debate, a would-be assassin’s bullet, an electrifying eleventh hour candidate swap, dramatic and surprising VP selections, betrayals behind closed doors, charges of a stolen election, game-changing blunders—the history-making 2024 presidential election is a political saga of Shakespearean proportions. In minute-by-minute detail, esteemed White House historian and political analyst Chris Whipple chronicles the unprecedented drama as it unfolds.

Offensive and sophomoric
Revisado: 04-21-25
The book started as a well-analyzed treatise of the political scene in 2024. That lasted for the first chapter--the preface and then it quickly fell into inaccurate double talk by someone who, apparently, is not a Trump person. The writer's commentary was predictable, most of the info related was lifted from previously published books by Trump team members during the aftermath of 2016. What offended this reader was the blatant anti-Semitism! Israel's war against Gaza and Palestinians? Seriously? Someone needs to clue this author in on who attacked whom. This book was insensitive, ignorant, and meaningless. The analysis of Kamala Harris was laughable--you'd think he was trying to describe the impending Eleanor Roosevelt/Shirley Chisholm of the 21st century. Just a joke. I'd like to know what Democratic Convention he attended in 2024--it was a clown show. The worst ever--and this author is calling it the most wonderful display of oratory and intelligence ever heard in America--this from the nominated presidential candidate who stood up and laughed like a hyena. Obviously, Uncharted is not on my recommendation list, and I was thankful to get my credit back upon returning the title.

Historia
Leonard Cohen wrote the poems in Book of Longing - his first book of poetry in more than 20 years after 1984's Book of Mercy - during his five-year stay at a Zen monastery on Southern California's Mount Baldy, and in Los Angeles, Montreal, and Mumbai. This dazzling collection of poetry is timeless, meditative, and often darkly humorous.

Just wonderful. The poems are priceless, spoken in Cohen's voice in his special way and sound. The best of the best. I've listened to it over and over.

Outstanding
Revisado: 09-06-24
I was unsure about this title but took a chance, It was fantastic. It is definitely a biography but told in a different way--interviews, quotes, a focus on Tai Chi, and Reed's love for the practice. Highly recommend! The narration was clear, professional and created a personal aspect that showed respect and love for Lou Reed and his life.

Historia
Leah Vincent was born into the Yeshivish community, a fundamentalist sect of ultra-Orthodox Judaism. As the daughter of an influential rabbi, Leah and her ten siblings were raised to worship two things: God and the men who ruled their world. But the tradition-bound future Leah envisioned for herself was cut short when, at sixteen, she was caught exchanging letters with a male friend, a violation of religious law that forbids contact between members of the opposite sex. Leah's parents were unforgiving.

self centered and depressing
Revisado: 08-11-24
the narration was fine, but the story was narcissistic at best. Very narrow description and portrayal of the jewish orthodox world. character development was poor, mental health options and healing within the community were poorly portrayed. It came across as another hit job on orthodox judaism. If you're looking for that kind of story you might like this story--but its really anemic in its portrayal. In the end, nothing was solved, nothing resolved. So what? was all I got out of this book. Also, didn't appreciate the pornography.

In The Rulebreaker, Susan Page conducts 150 interviews and extensive archival research to discover that Walters was driven to keep herself and her family afloat after her mercurial and famous impresario father attempted suicide. But she never lost the fear of an impending catastrophe, which is what led her to ask for things no woman had ever asked for before, to ignore the rules of misogynistic culture, to outcompete her most ferocious competitors, and to protect her complicated marriages and love life from scrutiny.

diappointing
Revisado: 07-27-24
I wanted so much to like this biopic. But it was disappointing. The narration was poor and hard to warn up to. The emphsis was so much on victimization of the American woman that it was depressing to read. Barbara Walters was so stunningly intellectual and brilliant. I just did not think her brillance and strength came off successfully.

As a founding member of The Beach Boys, Mike Love has spent an extraordinary 55 years, and counting, as the group's lead singer and one of its principal lyricists. The Beach Boys, from their California roots to their international fame, are a unique American story - one of overnight success and age-defying longevity; of musical genius and reckless self-destruction; of spirituality, betrayal, and forgiveness - and Love is the only band member to be part of it each and every step.

Awesome
Revisado: 07-27-24
This changed my entire view of Mike Love and the Beach Boys. I was not going to purchase it at first because I thought it might just be self-serving and gossipy. It was anything but! If Mr. Love had not narrated this story, it would not have been as powerful a read as it was. First--it was easy to listen to, in the sense that his reading style was both professional and personal. In a nutshell, this story/biopic was masculine without any shame, spiritual and poignant. It was emotional--you could feel and hear the emotion in Mr. Love's voice. It was authentic. The book showed the dangerous, sad, triumphant, heart-break, Americanism and never-ending energy being part of the Beach Boys required. I just could not put it down...I am so happy I read it and that Mr. Love had the courtesy to write it and share it with the world.
