Historia
Stand-up comedian, actress, and host Michelle Buteau reflects on growing up Caribbean, Catholic, and thick in New Jersey, going to college in Miami (where everyone smells like pineapple), her many friendship and dating disasters, working as a newsroom editor during 9/11, getting started in stand-up opening for male strippers, marrying into her husband’s Dutch family, IVF and surrogacy, motherhood, chosen family, and what it feels like to have a full heart, tight jeans, and stardom finally in her grasp.

Revisado: 04-18-22
She's the best of entertainers & never disappoints! Listening to Michelle Buteau in spoken book form the only down side is one doesn't get the pure joy of seeing her while she's speaking, which is always fun, because her facial expressions are such a bonus AND she's always a fun fashion-girl too!

What a gift this story is.
Revisado: 07-17-20
I don't know how to say the kind of relief & joy I experience when hear the same thoughts & emotions that I experience are also spoken aloud by those like Dannion. He's a powerful spirit with a resilient body. It's amazing to see what the body can endure & heal from especially after one hears those iconic (& sometimes dreaded) words "It Is Not Your Time". Dannion never ceases to inspire me; Thank you Dannion.

I feel bad about writing this but the authors voice was scary & creepy. I think his intention was probably to sound safe & soothing.

Read it all before
Revisado: 10-12-15
I read a couple Eckhart Tolke's books a few years ago; in my opinion, Eckhart's were better. If one couldn't understand Ekhart perhaps one will understand this author's version. Michael Singer writes using simple terms & expressions that may help some to grasp the concepts, especially if this subject is new to a reader. Other than that, I believe many seekers will find this book a helpful guide to furthering their spiritual practice.

Historia
At the end of her best-selling memoir Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert fell in love with Felipe, a Brazilian-born man of Australian citizenship who'd been living in Indonesia when they met. Resettling in America, the couple swore eternal fidelity to each other, but also swore to never, ever, under any circumstances get legally married. But providence intervened one day in the form of the United States government....

Finally, a book I don't wish to return.
Revisado: 10-08-15
I doubt the subject & the research which went into this book will be everyones cup of tea, but it is filled with thoughts & experiences that many can relate to. I initially doubted it would be of much interest to me but I enjoyed her last book, so I took a chance! I give it high marks for a couple of reasons: 1st because I enjoy Elizabeth's style of writing. She sounds authentic & devotes an earnest thoughtfulness to the subject matter within her books. The 2nd reason I enjoyed it is: I've had similar life-experiences & very similar thoughts about those experiences so it was nice to be reminded I wasn't so alone in feeling the way I did regarding, divorce, commitment, remarriage & children. So... for what it is worth, & for better or worse, that's my review.

Revisado: 09-04-15
It was pure pleasure to read Nick's self-bio. It's unusual to hear his mix of optimism, empathy, creativity & determination. He does it all so well & adds a few simple, earthy suggestions to aid others who are struggling to reach for their goals & dreams while navigating their way through this lifetime. I will certainly be reading his next book!

Historia
One month into our stay, we'd managed to dispatch most of our charges. We executed the chickens. One of the cats disappeared, clearly disgusted with our urban ways. And Lucky [the cow] was escaping almost daily. It seemed we didn't have much of a talent for farming. And we still had eleven months to go." Antonia Murphy, you might say, is an unlikely farmer. Born and bred in San Francisco, she spent much of her life as a liberal urban cliché, and her interactions with the animal kingdom rarely extended past dinner.

There's more going on in the world than meets the eye. There is an unseen spiritual realm, and occasionally God allows us glimpses of it. Angels, Miracles, and Heavenly Encounters offers a fascinating look at the supernatural world. It includes more than 40 true stories of miraculous provision, encounters with angels and demons, near-death experiences, and incredible rescues. You'll marvel at how God and His angels are working behind the scenes to protect and guide us.

This is a hyper-christian version, of NDEs
Revisado: 09-04-15
It seems like an opportunity to plug Christianity, especially the type of Christianity that believes all other forms of spirituality or Religion are evil. I was raised Christian & I'm so sick of that message!

Wow, really facinating!
Revisado: 02-28-15
The message & findings from the author can be a revolutionary if implemented in our schools, and speaking from experience, it has the same positive affects on adults. Wish everyone could read it. For those who haven't experienced these benifits of exercize I'm sure this sounds like another miracle cure & a broken record comming from health fanatics attempting to indoctrinate everyone. In this case it is 100% true & there's no snake oil involved nor anything in particular to buy except a good pair of exercize shoes & comfortable weather-appropriate clothes. Walk, bike-ride, jog, hula hoop, swim, do vigorous dance or anything you can find enjoyment in that involves moving. It will then be enjoyable & one will soon find is a crucial part of their daily life. Your body, brain & psychy will respond in wonderful ways if you just keep at it & dont give up.

Historia
Eddie Huang is the 30-year-old proprietor of Baohaus - the hot East Village hangout where foodies, stoners, and students come to stuff their faces with delicious Taiwanese street food late into the night - and one of the food world’s brightest and most controversial young stars. But before he created the perfect home for himself in a small patch of downtown New York, Eddie wandered the American wilderness looking for a place to call his own. Funny, raw, and moving, and told in an irrepressibly alive and original voice, Fresh Off the Boat recasts the immigrant’s story for the 21st century.

Grew tiresome.
Revisado: 02-27-15
I thought I'd like this book because I have often enjoyed hearing the accounts of those who immigrate (emmigrate?) to this Nation (& I like first-generation Americans stories too) along with how they managed when first arriving here, discriptions of family life, food, differences between cultures ect... The writer in this book just became more than I could tolerate by too often giving voice to a glib & jaded outlook. I understand being or getting jaded, it happens (a phase) but it doesn't make for good reading. Perhaps if it were an essay I'd have liked it but as a book it just dragged on too long and became really tiresome. Sorry, I really did want to like it.
