Historia
Will becoming a millionaire really set you free? Americans continue to work longer and harder to pursue freedom based on the belief that more money and success will lead to a better life, yet most feel less free than ever. While the typical American trades the vast majority of their time and energy with the hope that someday in the future they will be free, they tragically fail to realize that their intense pursuit of financial success is the very thing robbing them of the freedom they desire. So where do we find freedom?

Pathetic advertisement
Revisado: 03-11-23
This is a disgusting exploitation. You pay to hear him advertise himself. The story is so shallow and drones on. It took a long time to finish. I wanted to refund it but kept thinking maybe it can redeem itself in the next chapter and it never does. He gets an A for effort. It’s a business but I distrust this guy for anything. I just paid for his advertisement.

a few conclusions that have no foundation in fact but feel good to say. the theory is great and had a bunch of values I would recommend but it is a bit biographical and conclusions with no how to no practice no guide. it is what she discovered for her. pop psychology spoken sweetly and with the best intention. very feel good. and she has a point

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

I am a better version of me
Revisado: 05-09-21
in here I learned at 46 years old that I had structured me life to avoid struggles. I did what I wanted to do and when I did not want to do it I found a justified excuse to stop. Even law school, I did because I wanted to, I liked it, but when the reason became cloudy and stuff got hard....I wanted to leave. I was not willing to do monotonous unfun stuff. Even the USMC I had fun, all of it. I never had a day I regretted no matter how hard. With this book I stayed in law school and started running. 3 then 4 then 4x4 then 5 then 6 then 10 miles . I commit to a distance and run it. looking for that point where my body starts to falter or brain starts to chatter....then the games begin. it carried over in to business. the difficult stuff I could take on the willingness to face a fire and walk in. This and Resilience are my island books. if I only had two I can take. this is one. I can rather live happy on the island or I would find a way off the island with David or die happy a hundred miles off share having swam until my body failed but I died giving it everything I had. the world is a better place because if guys like David. so very grateful he wrote this. it will not speak to everyone but the man leads from the front and it calls to some of us very powerfully.

This is what Audible was made for!!!!
Revisado: 03-08-18
To be 43 years old, and as excited as I was at 12 years old to find snake or some treasure, is so much fun. This was done so well, the only shame of it being, there is only one story. It comes to an end, and I find myself, watching the countdown dreading the end. It is ridiculous to think how late I stayed up, knowing I have law school in the morning, but as Lord Rockston might say,"......sonnymaboy ....it can't be helped!!!!"

Decently read, but poorly written.
Revisado: 02-04-18
Would you try another book from Madeleine L'Engle and/or the narrators?
No, I do not think that I would try anything else from her. The story is written poorly, it makes leaps that don't make sense.
How could the performance have been better?
The sound of her voice was easy to listen to, but she had a very narrow range of character voices, and everything "evil" had a slow drawl. The "good", "bad", "mad", "fearful" emotions were overplayed. It was a poorly written book. I suppose she did the best she could.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Wrinkle in Time?
The entire beginning, It is written like a skipping track, or a jerking start to an engine, there is no lead in, and characters come together so abruptly, and then without explanations, there is suppose to be "tension" and it all just feels so awkward.
Any additional comments?
The whole book just seems awkward. One minute they are on an over dramatized world that they teleported to, then some strange creature walks up to them out of nowhere and starts randomly talking to them in English, and out of NOWHERE comes a pathetically timed bible quote. This is a child's book, not a Christian recruitment tool. Just poor timing from start to finish. Honestly one of the worst books I have ever encountered. I am going to return it and everything else she wrote. I don't have the time to waste going through the rest of it, just to be irritated. It takes a lot for me to smash a book, but this is so bad I feel irritated that it has been around so long. Of all the books ever written, I would have more fun reading a phone book, than this trash.

Historia
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.

fake to be southern, pretending to be English
Revisado: 01-07-18
I didn't care one way or another about Elijah, but this performance beat all. it is impressive to hear him in the character of a southener faking to be English was impressive.
Overall it was a very good performance. He did a great job playing the part of a mischevious boy. I can make out whether it's a compliment or an I sult to say a grown man has the perfect voice of a 14 year old boy, but I guess after you play a Hobbit it's all fair game after that. I will be honest I struggled to tell if all the voices we're his. From Jim the deep voiced slave to Tom and the girls. He did great. I'm sure it was easy to tell, but I got so lost in the story "a body can be 'spected to track'em all and keep'em sorted."
I am near ashamed to admit how eager I was at. ight to get back to the story, even though as a kid I read them, so I knew how it ended but I just couldn't help myself.

Historia
A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".

Twain would be proud of Nick.
Revisado: 01-02-18
I got busy with life and stopped reading. My daughter started listening to kids books and talking about her imagination and what it was like in her mind to go on the journey. I figured my imagination and visualization could use some exercise. This was fabulous. I had a blast. I tried to stay up late, falling asleep too some kids mischief. I have had a blast. There is a lot to be said for listening to stories.
knowing what Nick played in, made hearing his voice just a hoot. The roll fit him wonderfully.
Try reading the book into a microphone and listen. When it sounds like the painful garbage that it will likely sound like, you can come to appreciate the time and effort people like Nick put into the smallest details of the voice.

How to you love something that hurts you?
Revisado: 12-13-17
I stayed up nights to listening to it, drawn to the struggle and hoping for an end that no self respecting author would write. An end, that I knew was coming, but hoped wouldn't. It is a beautiful struggle. There are parts I wish were not, but I am not an author, and I'm not qualified to know how a story like this needs to be told to be effective. I want to tell my 8 yr old daughter that life is safe and fair, but to do so would be a lie. We have this luxury of deluding ourselves. I love the story. it breaks my heart, and I don't know that I could listen again, but I'm glad I heard it once.
