This is hands down the best audio book narration I've ever heard. The story is good, but the narrators are who take it to the next level.

This series could have been a trilogy and been better for it. I think what has irritated me the most is the lack of meaningful character development for Spensa, up until the last two hours of this book. She was still making the same mistakes during this book that she would have made in Skyward. This book dragged on and Spensa was absolutely useless for 95% of it. I also didn't like the sudden introduction of other p.o.v.s during the last half of the book as it made it feel clunky and awkward. I don't understand why we couldn't have had that in Starsight and Cytonic as well as the entirety of this book since that would have been so much better. I felt like some things were solved and wrapped up too quickly and there were no realistic casualties aside from one. This series only has a good rating because it's by Brandon Sanderson. While I overall enjoyed the series, I wouldn't reread it and can't honestly say that I'd recommend it.

Abysmal

Let's start with the narrators. They were terrible! The woman mumbled everything she said and the man had zero emotion. Now to the story. I'm so over these tropes where the m.m.c. treats the f.m.c. like trash and betrays her and then the f.m.c. just.... forgives him and gets back together with him. It is driving me crazy. The bar for fantasy men has got to be below Hades at this point, and the standard for fantasy women regarding men is right there with it. Can you guys please write f.m.c.s that are strong and have some actual self worth and self respect?

Insufferable f.m.c.

This story is certainly different and also predictable. I would say this is written for young adults except the spice in this book isn't appropriate for them. The f.m.c. is truly unlikeable and I was unable to form any sort of attachment to her or relate to her in any way. I finished it out of spite because I can't return it.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone I liked.

Lackluster

I'm unsure why this book has so many five star reviews. The story is really similar to others and the other series have done it better. It's very predictable and the 'intimate' scenes can't really be called spicy....mild at best. The male narrator did really well but the female narrator sounded like a robot.

Awful

I'm really not sure what I expected. If you listen to true crime, you'll know some experiences at the beginning of this book are incredibly similar to real victim(s) who survived horrible traumatic experiences. The author has chosen to copy those horrific experiences into whatever demented fantasy this is, which is so disrespectful. Even setting that aside, the story is so cringy I struggled not to skip parts and the f.m.c. is utterly unlikeable. I kept listening hoping there would be some redeeming facet, but aren't any. The narrators are also monotone and don't do a good job at voicing other characters, so they all sound like the same person. Just a huge mess overall.

This series started out good but gets worse every book. There's the pregnancy trope despite using every available resource, the mates are dense, Sunday has regressed into a teenager, and basically none of their problems would've happened if they'd all just communicated. I hate miscommunication tropes just as much as pregnancy tropes. Not worth the investment, in my opinion.

Fantastic

The narrators are amazing and the spice is five stars. My only complaint is that it's pretty obvious what's going to be revealed in the following books but the m.f.c. is kinda slow so hasn't caught on. However, I could be wrong and if I am I'll change this review.

I recommend reading this book yourself. The narrators are simply awful. All the voices sound the same apart from Diesel, whom for some unknown reason, the male narrator chose to voice as a creepy pirate. This book has a list of trigger warnings so I would check those out before reading. I am going to forewarn any curiouse readers that in this case the smut IS the plot so expect a lot of kinky intimate situations and not alot going on otherwise. I couldn't return because I bought this on sale and didn't use a credit but I did try.
