Twisty Twins

Another good Janelle Brown take focused on the minds and manners of women. creating the distinct yet individual personalities of the twins was impressive and seemed to work. The cult felt all to plausible and seemed to capture some of the negative elements of today's society. Good work by the narrator's!

Entertaining and Interesting

Dickens is always a good read, but going back to Martin Chuzzlewit was treat. getting through the first half it feels like there are too many characters and too much plot, but the second half brings it all together. The chapters with Martin and Mark in the New World are high comedy: the parody of Americans could be previewing TrumpSillies of today. Laugh out loud.

This is an essential book for anyone seeking to understand politics of today's America. The book covers things we know to be true, but the extent of the corruption if America is surprising and terrifying. Though both parties play to some extent, this result is the outcome of the breaking of American government by the GOP. Regulating business and reigning in broken state governments is vital. Well told tale with examples and cases to balance policy discussions.

Fantastically creative story built around fascinating physics extrapolation. As always, Clarke (and Baxter) build a driving plot around some interesting characters and mind bending ideas. Feels like the story is not really finished with this ending, Mr Clarke will be missed.

A Coup in the Capital

This is from back in 1994, but pretty spooky when played in the shadow of the 6 Jan Trump Insurrection. The book was insightful, funny, and peppered with the technology issues which make Stephenson's work so interesting. The technical side was great and the political drama, though exaggerated, rang true. Thank goodness the Trump gang did not have any technical tricks lined up, just riot and violence Great book.

Glance into Real Life with Wolff

Tobias Wolff's stories are always interesting, often a little strange. But, at least to me, they feel real, like covert peaks at the real lives people are living underneath pretense and costume. The characters are never noble or enviable, but they are enticing and likeable. They feel like people you almost know, or maybe the true selves under the people you think you know .

A Timely Warning

Madeleine Albright's book is well timed to add to the warning cries from respected people of all political strioes. She has penned a great book here, with poingnant personal history, biography of key leaders, and linkages to today's political situation. Very well done and well argued...all without hysteria or bluster. Mr Trump is a danger to America, and Albright pulls together the threads to demonstrate that.
