Historia
Welcome to the age of behavioral addiction - an age in which half of the American population is addicted to at least one behavior. We obsess over our emails, Instagram likes, and Facebook feeds; we binge on TV episodes and YouTube videos; we work longer hours each year; and we spend an average of three hours each day using our smartphones. Half of us would rather suffer a broken bone than a broken phone, and Millennial kids spend so much time in front of screens that they struggle to interact with real, live humans.

I don't normally like when an author narrates their own book, but he did a great job. Lots of great information and really makes you think about putting that phone away!

Historia
In The Myth of the Nice Girl, Fran Hauser deconstructs the negative perception of "niceness" that many women struggle with in the business world. If women are nice, they are seen as weak and ineffective, but if they are tough, they are labeled a bitch. Hauser proves that women don't have to sacrifice their values or hide their authentic personalities to be successful.

Don't get turned off by the title!
Revisado: 02-14-19
I loved this book so much that before I even finished it I had recommended it to almost every woman I spoke to.
I definitely fall into the "you have to be a b*" to get ahead mindset, but this book is great no matter where you fall in the spectrum.
I am thinking about things differently now and I can't wait to put some of her ideas into action!

I love this!

This is probably my favorite Brandon Sanderson series. MacLeod Andrews was the perfect narrator. I wouldn't change a thing and even though everything seemed wrapped up at the end, I'm hoping to hear more from the Reckoners.

Am I the only one...
Revisado: 09-02-12
...who thinks it's strange that Brianna's "accent" slowly changes into Clare's without explanation during this book? I'm generally really impressed by how Davina Porter keeps all the different characters so consistent, but as the book goes on Brianna sounds more and more like Clare. That said, as an American, I found Davina's "American Accent" quite annoying, so maybe I'm happy with it? (That's why I gave the Performance a "four" instead of a five.)
Otherwise, I'm about halfway through this. I picked this series originally because they're SO long and I drive a ton for work. More bang for your buck, so to speak. I wound up being really invested in the characters and not just Jamie and Clare. The attention to detail along with the historical references really make this series shine. I will be pretty sad when I get to the end of the last one.
It's a romance without being a romance novel. Historical fiction without sounding like a lecture. A long long long book without dragging. Well done, Diana Gabaldon!

Historia
The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

Engaging Story!
Revisado: 03-04-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Tragedy of Arthur to be better than the print version?
I tried to read the print version three times, and couldn't get into it...now that could be me and my schedule. Since I drive a lot for work, the audio book is usually a better choice, so I sprung for it. I was not disappointed. I just started the actual play, but I will say I did love this book.
Sort of convoluted (Arthur the author writes a book as Arthur the protagonist who gets a book from his father Arthur that seems to be a Shakespeare play about King Arthur) but easy to follow nonetheless. You do have to like that kind of book...complex story lines that give you a protagonist that you aren't 100% behind...Arthur isn't the kind of guy you are always rooting for. There will be times when you think
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the characters the best, and the fact that you weren't really sure at any time what the actual truth was.
Which character – as performed by David Aaron Baker – was your favorite?
I loved the character of Arthur (the father)...the voicing of that character really gave him life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
To be...or not to be...that is the question, isn't it?
